Topline Findings
Welcome to the Flight Deck »
Welcome to the Flight Deck Large public companies (and, increasingly, state-owned enterprises) occupy a
significant proportion of global assets and the attention of business academics and
consulting firms. At the other extreme, start-ups attract ambitious graduates and
‘emigrés’ from major corporates.
What about those in the middle? So far there has been limited work on globalizing
mid-caps, especially on leadership, talent and culture. ‘Welcome to the Flight Deck,’ a
new study by leading business school IMD and Amrop, a global executive search
partnership, explores this missing link.
3 Main Factors Are Positioning Globalizing Mid-Caps to Win Customers and Talent 1 Freedom

founder-driven. A virtuous
combination of freedom
and connectivity, supported
