The Spirit of Giving at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center
Summer 2017 New Chief Executive A Decade of Healing Your Gifts at Work
A decade of healing: Celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Firstenburg Tower
I was drawn to this position in southwest Washington in part because of the opportunity it presented to really become a part of a flourishing community with a history of supporting its hospitals going back to Mother Joseph in 1856.

I was drawn to this position in southwest Washington in
A decade of healingThe opening of the Firstenburg Tower in 2007 transformed
health care in our region. The new tower expanded
PeaceHealth Southwest’s ability to care for our community
by providing comfortable spaces for healing, new
innovative services, and technology and increased
access to critical care. And, because you care, it was our
most successful fundraising campaign in the hospital’s
history with a record $53 million raised over three years.
Here are just a few areas
your support made
a difference for our
patients in the last
10 years, thank you!
Heart and Vascular care
Women’s health
Neurological care
Hospice care
During this anniversary year, look for more stories on our extraordinary accomplishments made possible because of your support!
The construction of the Firstenburg Tower began in 2005 and transformed the PeaceHealth Southwest campus.
The construction of the Firstenburg Tower was made possible because of the strong community investment and dedication to the health of our residents.
$10.5 millionraised for Neuroscience Excellence! We are excited to announce that PeaceHealth Southwest’s
$10.5 million Campaign for Neurosciences Excellence is
now complete thanks to two final gifts. The Tod and Maxine
McClaskey Foundation made a gift of $600,000 and an
anonymous donor made a gift of $800,000. Thank you to all
who have contributed to this project!
Over the past three years you helped us create the Thomas
and Sandra Young Neurosciences Center for inpatient care;
you invested in our neuro-related caregivers by creating
the Jay D. Miller, M.D. Neurosciences Caregiver Education
Endowment for advanced education; you contributed
to renovate the Ron and Terry Prill Cardiac Center; and
you finished off this campaign by helping us expand and
renovate the Inpatient Rehabilitation unit. We can’t thank
you enough for your generous support.
For the final phase of the campaign, the Inpatient
Rehabilitation Unit will be relocated to the third floor of the
Mother Joseph building. The unit will include private patient
rooms, an expanded gymnasium, dining room, therapy
areas, and room for many other support services. Our current
unit on the fourth floor will remain open during construction
until moving into its new home winter 2018.
Thank you for your dedication to improving the lives of our patients and their families!

New Foundation OfficersNew foundation board officers for fiscal year 2018:
Investing in our caregivers24 caregivers and volunteers were recently awarded scholarships to further their health career education. The scholarships are donor funded and a special way to support our hardworking caregivers and volunteers. Since the fund was created in 2006, we have awarded over $1,000,000 in scholarships.
Thank you for supporting the continuing education of our caregivers and volunteers!
Helping those in needThanks to the generosity of donors, in the past year we have distributed more than $500,000 to patients in need. These funds have been used to help patients with prescription costs, purchasing medical equipment and other medical expenses. At PeaceHealth Southwest we never turn a patient away because of inability to pay.
Your support helps us save the lives of all who need care, thank you.
