THE ROUND SYSTEMWhat is the Round System? The Round System helps maximize the number of applicants admitted to cégep. There are three consecutive rounds for Fall semester applications.

A “round” is a portion of an application period during which: • You can submit your application for the first time (at any round)• You can change your choice and try again if you were refused at a previous round

With SRAM, you must choose a single program in a single cégep. If you are refused, you can take part in the following round for the same semester by making a new choice out of the remaining spaces. You will not have to pay additional application fees.

Available spacesIn Round 1 of the Fall semester, the maximum number of spaces is open to applicants.

After Round 1 admissions, the remaining spaces are open in the next round. Since spaces are filled at each round, there are fewer spaces available as the application process moves forward. A Table of Available Spaces is published for Rounds 2 and 3. It is important to refer to these Tables prior to submitting a new choice.

If you are currently enrolled in school, SRAM highly encourages you to meet with your guidance counsellor to help prepare your college application.

AcceptanceAdmission is final. Once you are accepted, you may no longer take part in the following rounds.

RefusalIf you are refused, you will be invited to take part in the next round. There are no additional fees. You just have to log on to your file at admission.sram.qc.ca/my-file and modify your choice before the next deadline.

Admission answersAdmission answers are posted on your online file at admission.sram.qc.ca/my-file on the date listed in the deadlines and important dates of that round:

• Acceptance letters are sent directly from the cégeps. These letters include all the information needed to confirm your acceptance and your registration.

• Refusal letters are posted directly in the applicant’s online file. It should be read carefully as it includes explanations about the refusal, instructions to pursue the application and cegep contact information.

Don’t wait until the last minute!Submitting your application as soon as possible will give you plenty of time to complete your file before the deadline. Incomplete files are not sent out to cégeps for evaluation. So avoid last minute stress and complete admission file as soon as possible.

If you are hesitating between two programs or two cégeps, you can still start to fill out your application right away. As long as your application fees are paid, you can change your choice of program and cégep as many times as you wish right until the Round deadline. Your last registered choice at the time of the deadline is the one that will be considered.

Why only one choice per round?With the Round System, accepted applicants only reserve a single spot in a cégep. Cégeps therefore have a better grasp of the number of students they can accept and that will complete their registration with the cégep. As a result, SRAM’s Round System makes it possible for a greater number of applicants to be accepted. In the Fall of 2018, 95% of applicants who followed through on all the rounds they were invited to were accepted.

An application is considered complete when applications fees have been paid and all mandatory docu-ments have been received and deemed adequate by SRAM.

A few telling statisticsAmong the SRAM applicants to the Fall 2018 semester:

• 83% were accepted

• 95% applicants who followed through on all the rounds they were invited to were accepted

• 92% of applicants were accepted into their first choice program

There are, however, a certain number of programs with limited spaces due to one or many of the following reasons: limited number of laboratories, limited internships opportunities, and limited openings in the employment market.

DURATION OF STUDIESDuration of studies

• The minimum expected length of a pre-university program is 2 years or 4 semesters.• The minimum expected length of a technical program is 3 years or 6 semesters. • Visit the cégeps website for the duration of your program of choice.

APPLYING FOR ADMISSION

• Have your permanent code on hand. This code is made up of 4 letters and 8 numbers and can be found on your ministry of Education transcripts.

• Apply online at admission.sram.qc.ca• When you are done filling out your application, a list of documents needed to complete your file will

be displayed. If you would like to see which documents will be requested before submitting an application, you may fill out a demo application at admission-demo.sram.qc.ca. The list of documents to send in will also be displayed on the transmission receipt that you can print out after submitting your application. Some applicants will not have any documents to send in.

• A 30$ application fee is required.

• If you have studied outside of Canada and require that SRAM prepares an Evaluation of studies done outside of Québec to complete your application, an additional 50$ fee will apply.

The college may require applicants to pass a test, such as a language test. Fees may apply for this test.

Canadian students who are not considered Québec residents are subject to additional tuition fees of 1 572 $ per semester. Students who are neither Canadian permanent residents nor Canadian citizens will have to pay yearly tuition fees ranging from 12 360 $ to 19 160 $, depending on the program of study. Prices are set by the Ministère de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec and are subject to change without notice.

Quality of documents:Do not send original documents. The documents you provide must be clear and legible copies. Documents of poor quality or documents appearing to have been altered may be rejected. If a mandatory document is rejected, your file will remain incomplete and will be sent to the cégep for the current round when a satisfactory version has been received.
