It will deliver jobs, growth and opportunity. The Budget will help families and small businesses get ahead and provide greater capacity for Australians to make their own decisions about their future. The Jobs and Small Business package reduces taxes and creates opportunity, especially for young people. The Families Package gives parents more choice and opportunity for child care and for work. Pensions have been enhanced and there is NO plan to further tax superannuation. There is new funding for national security, a continuation of the Government’s $50 billion infrastructure programme and reforms that make our tax, foreign investment and welfare system fair and sustainable. Durack will benefit further from tax measures for primary producers, a $5 billion loan facility for infrastructure in northern Australia, $100 million for northern beef roads, a doubling of funds to $32 million for the Roads to Recovery programme, Black Spot funding (Broome, Eneabba, Regans Ford), continuation of works on Gt Northern and NW Coastal Highways, $990 000 for a multipurpose complex in Bencubbin, and a $150 000 Durack community chest. A Budget for All Australians JUNE 2015 “Your local member, Melissa, has been a strong and respectful advocate in Canberra, chipping away for FTTP so I’m pleased that NBN has confirmed it will be fibre to the premise for Geraldton,” said Hon Malcolm Turnbull in Geraldton on 29 April. “Recently I announced another 25,900 premises in Durack covering Broome, Cervantes, Dongara, Karratha, Leeman, Jurien, Kalbarri and Northampton which will be fibre to the node - FTTN.” A number of locations will have towers built to increase capability for around 1,700 premises primarily in the Wheatbelt. Mr Turnbull and Ms Price share a joke at the ABC Studio - Mid West and Wheatbelt. Ms Price joins Hon Joe Hockey, Treasurer, following the announcement of a $5 billion loan facility to support infrastructure development in northern Australia.

ANZAC 100 - a new coming of age“Australians were at their patriotic best on Anzac Day – the Government, the communities, the RSL and many organisations have been privileged to work together to lift Anzac Day to a new level of awareness and appreciation,” said Melissa Price MP.

“I had the honour of attending Anzac services in Kalbarri, Cervantes, Yuna and Jurien Bay.

“I also visited Mullewa where Father O’Bryan rededicated the World War 1 Memorial which has been restored with the support of Anzac centenary funding.”

Mrs Barb Thomas, Fr Robert O’Bryan, Ms Melissa Price MP. This World War 1 Memorial located in the grounds of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church Mullewa was designed and built by the Priest/Architect Mons John Hawes in 1928 during his tenure as priest in Mullewa. During the 1914-18 conflict, 74 from Mullewa enlisted. The restoration of the Memorial, which features a lone pine, was undertaken with Federal funding support and completed in time for Anzac Day 2015.

Working with my office team members over many months, I am pleased these organisations secured Federal funding for Anzac centenary projects.

Helping Small Business GrowThe 2015 Budget backs small businesses, to help grow the economy and create jobs. Small businesses with less than $2 million turnover will get more support.

Immediate tax deductions for every asset purchased with a value up to $20,000 (each).

Taxrelief-a1.5% tax cut for incorporated small businesses. A 5% tax discount (up to $1,000 a year) for unincorporated small businesses.

Start- ups can immediately deduct professionalexpensesforstartingtheirbusiness.

This new small business,

Newman Bakery and Takeaway,

is doing it right, according to

the locals and visitors alike.

Keeping Australians SafeThe 2015 Budget includes record investment in Defence, national security and law enforcement.

More resources plus new powers to act, will boost our national security agencies’ ability to track and deal with potential terrorists. We are also cracking down on hate preachers.

We’ve stopped the boats and our new Australian Border Force will keep us safer by responding to threats from terrorism and transnational crime.

“When it comes to national security, there can be no shortcuts”.

Tony Abbott MP,Prime Minister of Australia

More Security for SeniorsThe Age Pension will continue to increase twice a year - at the highestavailableindexationrate.

From 2017 - 170,000 pensioners with modest assets will have pensions increased by an average of $30 per fortnight.

For 90% of pensioners, there will either be no change in pension arrangements, or higher pensions. Some part pensioners with higher assets will no longer qualify for the pension, but will continue to get cheaper PBS medicines with the Senior Health care Card.

We will fight Labor’s new taxes on Superannuation.

More Affordable Child CareThe Australian Government’s new child care measures will make child care more affordable. From July 2017, the new Child Care Subsidy will help more families get into work and stay in work.

Working families with incomes between $65,000 and $170,000 will be around $30 per week better off. And we’re removing the $7,500 cap for families earning less than $185,000.

Working families earning less than $65,000 will get an 85% subsidy of child care fees (up to an hourly cap). A Child Care Safety Net will help those families earning less than $65,000 that don’t meet the activity test.

A Home Care (Nannies) Pilot will help people like shift workers access child care.

Our “no jab, no pay” rule will remove access to child care subsidies forparentswhodon’timmunisetheirchildren(withexemptionsonlyon medical grounds).

Roebourne, Yaandina Aged Care Centre The new state of the art facility allows residents to age in place, to stay close to families and friends as they enjoy their twilight years and grow more dependent. I was pleased to officially open the centre on 21 April, to which the Australian government contributed $3.7 million.

Jurien Bay, Anzac Commemoration Anzac Day touches every Australian family. Anzac Day 2015 confirmed for me that it is firmly embedded as a day of national pride. It unites us as one. I enjoyed hearing stories abouttheANZACSfromwell-knownidentityJimClarkeinJurien Bay.

Inkpen, Wheatbelt NRM Bushcare Grants The Australian Government’s efforts to conserve the bush were applauded when I announced that 22 farmers were recipientsofround2oftheWheatbeltNRMRegionBushcareGrants. The grants will be used to protect bush areas that are important both ecologically and to the community.

Wild dogs threat to sustainable agricultureSustainable agriculture is an important issue in my federal electorate of Durack. Recently, I visited Challa Station in the Murchison, to better understand the wild dog problem. Wild dogs have been destroying thousands of livestock each year, costing producers millions of dollars. Whereas dingos were once the main culprit and cause of attacks on sheep and goats, it is now the cross bred mongrel that is the problem. I was impressed with the pastoralists’ tenacity in dealing with wild dogs through their baiting program but this alone will not curtail the dogs sufficiently, as recent history has shown. I have written to the State Government, to encourage funding support for the vermin cell fence, and to develop a State wide strategy for the management of wild dogs.

Ms Price visits Ashley and Sue Dowden’s Challa Station in the Murchison, to meet with pastoralists and talk about management of wild dogs.
