With fashion history, popular culture and perception crediting Italian and French designers as being the most influential and innovative, society often forgets the massive impact that Latin Designers have had on fashion and creativity. Pioneering Fashion Designers such as Cristobal Balenciaga (1895-1972, Guetaria, Spain), Carolina Herrera (Venezuela), Mariano Fortuny (Grenada, Spain), and Oscar de la Renta (Dominican Republic) all have had a tremendous impact on fashion—and still have. Contemporary Latin Designers including Narciso Rodriguez (born in Cuba), Custo Dalmau (born in Castalan, Spain), Isabel Toledo (born in Havana, Cuba), and Paco Rabanne (born in San Sebastian, Spain) are also making a phenomenal impact on fashion in the current market. These designers show at major international fashion events in New York and Paris, and their designs are worn by premier cultural influencers including actresses, models, singers, and even the current American First Lady, Michelle Obama. Past and current Latin Fashion Designers influence, inspire, and create today’s most amazing fashion on a global basis. Sobeidy created Latin Fashion Week to not only make her dream come true but to uplift and empower the Latin Community and the world through fashion. Latin Fashion Week was created in the spirit of the Latin World’s illustrious designers—being a platform that is completely dedicated to showcasing the work of Latin and Multicultural inspired designers. Every Latin Fashion Week “Boutique Style” event brings together “Latin Fashionistas”—helping designers meet and interact with both each other and influential industry leaders who can help propel their work to its next level. Especially, we take great pride in our role of empowering the Latin Fashion World to take pride in itself and share its treasures (people, culture, unique style) with each other and the world around us. We celebrate everything that is “Latin Fashion.” Ola! www.latinfashionweek.com contact: [email protected]
