OUR STRATEGIC FOCUS:This initiative will begin in May 2014 as we partner with the TDSB to engage youth to apply for our event. Students will be asked to submit an illustration of an outfit. This outfit will be for designed for a woman that they love. Students may also include a short paragraph detailing the story behind the design. Ie. A prom dress for their sister, a suit for their mom, best friend, or a dress for a role model who has inspired them in some way. Applications must be delivered in person or by mail to The Make Den at 1244 Bloor St. W. by June 8th (late application date is June 15th) Students are asked to submit a commitment fee of $25~ with their application and illustration. Students will be asked to combine upcycled and new materials in some way to incorporate sustain-ability into their designs. Selected designers will be provided with a budget for their materials as well as guidance in creating their designs.

We will open up a place for the online commu-nity to choose at least one winner as well. These winners will be announced by the end of the school year (June 2014) and will be enrolled in industry workshops throughout the summer. These workshops will include Sewing and Patternmaking, Event Production, Styling, Hair, Make-up and Runway workshops for our models. We have partenered with The Make Den Sewing School and will enlist other experts in Toronto for these workshops.

With the help of our partners, each of the designs will be completed by September 2014. Throughout the summer we will partner with local media to promote and sell tickets for the event. Tickets for the event will be $10/person and free for designers and their models, with pro-ceeds going to PACT and other charities.
