in western India to Srinivas Shenvi and Malti Srinivas shenvi

on 6th February, 1968. His father was working with phoenix mills and in a tragedy in

1975; Mr. Srinivas Shenvi lost his life. They had to shift from chembur to vikroli.

Their family was getting a very negligible amount as pension from the mills and his

    - Henry Ford.

Mr. Ashok from his childhood had a strong liking towards art. But he knew this would

give satisfaction but will leave him with not much money. When he lost his father, no

one was there to financially support their family. Due to his interest in artistic works,

parallel with his studies he started up a small business of printing wedding cards,

greeting cards, visiting cards (nowadays so called business cards). He also used to

take tuitions to his friends who were studying with him in 10th grade. He believed in

earn to learn. He further used to sell perfumes, crackers during festive seasons. Slowly

by doing this day in day out he completed his 10 grade with flying colours i.e. he

scored 80%.once he completed his schooling their family shifted to dombivli. In ------

--, He started doing his Part time Diploma Course in Mechanical engineering from

K.J. Somaia College of engineering. In those days after 10 th while pursuing

engineering part time, students could work; and as ashok shenvi was a bright student

he got into L &T Ltd. as a trainee and then slowly as years passed by he became a

Senior Engineer.Mr. Ashok also did diploma in tool and die making which was taught

by L & T Ltd. to its employees. He started his career in L&T Ltd. as a confirmed

employee in the year 1989 and left his job in the year 2004. Since then he has always

shared a quote that JOB stands for Job done for Others Business, better start up your

own business and work hard for it.

History Of His BusinessTanvi decorators & caterers

Making money is art and working is art and good business is the best art.

Mr. Ashok believed in being a Job Maker and not a Job seeker. While he was working

with L&T Ltd. he was even in search of some good business which would give him

good returns as well as satisfaction. He somehow came to know about decorations that

used to happen in big weddings. He started taking contracts for it and use to work on

the field where he is interested in, during nights after returning from L&T. this way he

used to work for day and night during orders.

As years passed by, he even came to know everything about catering business too. So

then he thought of getting into this industry. he also knew the fact that getting into this

industry wasnt an easy task to go with. you should have an extremely good financial

background to start up on your own.

One fine day, Mr Ashok came across an information about Samrat Group involved in

wedding hall, catering and decoration, very well known in dadar and south Bombay

having their business in dombivli too with a huge investment of 80 lakhs. Mr-----------

------------, the proprietor of samrat Group used to reside in Dadar. due to long

distance It wasnt possible for him to manage his business of wedding hall and

caterering in dombivli. He thought of quitting and selling it off at a loss. At that time

Mr.ashok took this opportunity and approached Mr.-------------- ---- and volunteered to

manage the business of Mr. ----------------in the name of samrat itself in dombivli and

agreed to share 13.5% of profit therin to Mr.------------------, as ashok wasnt so

wealthy enough to buy it from Mr--------.This was a right step taken by Mr. Ashok

shenvi as otherwise Mr.------ would have sold his business at a loss. This proposal was

very well accepted by Mr.--------------.This is how he entered into the catering industry

    in the year ---------.

In ------, after he starting his own management , he brought in new concept where he

hired students from hotel management institutes as trainees and some even as full time

    representatives.

Mr. Ashok was very much Quality oriented. He says if good quality and good service

and standards are maintained your customers will never leave you.

He even gave them dress code where they had to wear formals with blazer, which

gave his business a much professional touch.

This way he brought in new concepts which was very appealing and innovative.

    Thus his business flourished well.

In 2004, Mr.---------------was constructing a new huge wedding hall in one of the

prime locality in dombivli. He had invited everyone in dombivli for a visit to the hall

    he was constructing .

He also started inviting organizers to bring in quotations for the wedding hall on

contractual basis. When others were dropping quotations ,Mr ashok went directly to

meet Mr.----------------- and invited him to his place of work ie Samrat cateres to

know the culture and the quality of service rendered by him.

Due to this confident approach ,Mr. -------------- attended some events that were been

organized by mr ashok in their Samrat wedding hall.

He got impressed by seeing the new innovations(eg concept of well dressed staff,

recruitment of hotel management students as trainees etc.) and systematic way of

conduct brought into this business by Mr. ashok.

Mr ashok was given the first preference for the quotation. Several quotations had

been lined up with Mr.----------------. There were quotations ranging from 1 cr to 1.5

cr for the duration of 10 years. When he came to know this he felt that the contract is

    gone.

Earlier, when marriages used to happen the decorations of the stage, the hall etc

wasnt given much preference. So mostly clients never used to take snaps of the stage

setup neither the photographers used to capture a photo of stage decoration. When Mr

Ashok was heading Samrat Group in dombivli he wanted to promote the idea of stage

decoration in a still more grand manner. For that he used to tell the photographer

whomsoever comes to just take a snap of the stage decoration and give one copy to

him, hardly those photographers used to capture . One day he met Mr. ----------Joshi,a

passionate photographer, in one of the functions.Mr ------Joshi used to work for BMCand photography was his hobby. At leisure he used to take orders.as usual Mr. Ashok

told him too to take photo of it. Mr Joshi turned up within two days with the

photo.seeing the passion of Mr joshi not for rs 12 of the photo Mr Ashok got

impressed. They had built up a strong relation gradually.

So while the new acquisition of the hall, as Mr Ashok could not arrange for such a

huge amount he thought of approaching his old friend Mr. Joshi to join hands with

him to start the business. But as he was aleady employed with BMC ,he wasnt that

interested in a partnership concern but he was ready to help Mr Ashok financially.

after discussion with Mr. _____________ they agreed a dealing for 75 lakhs in 8

years. Now for fulfilling the said amount of 75 lakhs Mr Ashok took VRS from L&t

Ltd.and managed to get some 35lakhs. The rest 40 lakhs was arranged by Mr.-----

joshi. Family members where against it later on ashok somehow convinced them.

So in 2005 when Samrat Group contract too got over and even Mr.Ashok started his

own group as Tanvi caterers & Decoraters with Shamiyana Hall.

delightful manner of welcoming their guests etc.
