CPT PEDRO VALDES
DETACHMENT COMMANDER
The past month
has been a busy
one for the Out-
laws. The Sol-
diers who re-
turned from de-
ployment have
taken block
leave and re-
turned to duty.
Two of the re-
turning Soldiers
have just been
promoted. Half
of them are at-
tending levy
briefs and get-
ting ready to
PCS. The other
half has joined
us back at the
office. It is nice
to have an office
full of Soldiers
again. The new
squads have
been set up and
now the Outlaws
are just waiting
for the upcom-
ing change of
command next
month. Daily
business has
been going on
as usual with
customer ser-
vice support,
disbursing op-
erations, and
missions
around Bavaria.
Alpha Detach-
ment said fare-
well to SPC Har-
graves , Unshil
on August 1st as
she heads to her
next duty station
in Korea. She
was an excellent
asset to our unit
and will be
missed greatly.
On the other
hand the Out-
laws welcomed
to new Soldiers
to Alpha Detach-
ment this
month.

Outlaws Overview
JUL .15-AUG.1 5
O UTL AWS
All of the practice finally came down to the real
event. On July 17th the Outlaws linked up with all of
the other detachments in 106th FMSU to conduct a
virtual mission. MAJ Francis, Scott was on site in
Grafenwoehr for the event. The Outlaws loaded up in
HUMVS and drove the training location just as if it
was a real life mission. Upon arrival they received
convoy briefs and started the mission. During the
event the Outlaws reacted to contact, spotted an IED,
and called up all necessary reports including a 9 line
MEDAVAC. Once arriving at their destination the Out-
laws aided a paying agent and answered customer
service questions to Soldiers on location. The train-
ing was an overall success and the Outlaws look for-
ward to doing it again.

Customer Service and IATS
JUL .15-AUG.1 5
On July 24th the Outlaws conducted technical training on
customer service and attended a class on how to use the
IATS system. In the morning SPC Stephens, Joshua gave a
class on customer service etiquette covering the best way to
help a customer. The Outlaws discussed the best ways to ap-
proach each customer and certain things we can improve on
at the customer service counter. In the afternoon the Out-
laws attended a class lead by 266th personnel on how to op-
erate IATS (Integrated Automated Travel System). We were
processing all travel documents through T-Pax (Travel Prepa-
ration and Examination System), but that system is going
away. Both systems are similar, but there are a few changes
on how to input the documents. Since the training the Out-
laws have begun using the IATS system and think that it is
actually better than what we were doing before.

Mission
On July 25th SGT Hawkins, Donte conducted a redeployment brief for 2nd Calvary
Division Soldiers in Vilseck who were deployed to Turkey. He briefed the Soldiers
on how to fill out the DD1351-2 travel voucher so the Outlaws can process their
per diem pay and stop their downrange entitlements. SGT Hawkins talked to the
Soldiers about what changes to expect in their pay now that they are back in garri-
son. He also discussed how to stop and retrieve their SDP contribution (Savings
Deposit Program). At the end of the brief he left time for the Soldiers to ask any
questions that they had.
PFC Hobbs, Marissa has been awarded the
Safety Soldier of the Week and a Certificate of
Achievement from 16th Sustainment Brigade.
This is a proud moment for Alpha detachment
as PFC Hobbs is the third one to be awarded
this in the past few months. She is always on
top of making sure everyone knows the sum-
mer safety tips and implying them herself. She
has also helped NCO’s for unit level mainte-
nance of all assigned vehicles. PFC Hobbs is a
reliable and hard working Soldier. Just like all of
members of Alpha Detachment, safety is al-
ways at the top of her list on and off duty.

Incoming Soldiers
Newman, Jerrod has been promoted from SPC to SGT.
SGT Newman came to Grafenwoehr as a PFC for his
first duty station. Ever since he set foot in Germany SGT
Newman has excelled and proven what it is like to be
the ideal Soldier. He just returned from his first deploy-
ment in Qatar where is preformed above the standard
as always. Now he has reached an new level of excel-
lence by joining the NCO ranks as a leader of Soldiers.
On August 5th his daughter removed the rank on his
chest and his wife replaced the one on his patrol cap
making it a very special moment for the entire family.
Alpha detachment was thrilled to congratulate our new
NCO who will be leaving us soon for his PCS to Fort
Stewart, Georgia.

St Pierre, Katelyn has been promoted from SGT to
SSG. SSG St Pierre joined the Army on14JUL2009.
She was stationed at Fort Carson and deployed with
them to Kuwait as a cashier. She came to Alpha De-
tachment in August, 2012 as a SPC. She became an
NCO within our unit and has done an excellent job as
a leader. SSG St Pierre deployed with Alpha detach-
ment in October 2013 to Qatar. SSG St Pierre has
moved up through the ranks wasting no time at all. It
is a very special accomplishment to reach SSG with
just barely 5 years of service. She has put in a lot of
hard work and dedication into her job and is well de-
serving of this promotion. All of the Outlaws are
proud of all she has done. She will be PCS’ing to
Washington D.C. for a special duty assignment in the
coming months.
