1Continue improving the CERN Hostel booking procedure
and establish a long-term waiting listIn production early April 2013
2Investigate short-term parking facilities in front of the Medical Service, CERN Stores and Electronics Pool
Drawings discussed and approved – Order made to the suppliers - Marking to be done according to the weather
conditions – Should be done by the end of March. No road marking works have been done since October due to the
weather.
3 Circuit 4 - Add a new shuttle stop in front of the Hotel Started as of the 3rd of December.
4 Rooms for disabled persons : Price to be decreased. 2 rooms for disabled persons: one single 58 CHF/night and one twin 77 CHF/night for 2 persons and 64 CHF/night if
ocupied by one person only.Shall become 27 CHF/person/night starting from January
2013.
5 Renovation Building 38 Study by the architect to quote costs and check the technical feasibility, taking into account safety issues, is in
progress

6Stable WiFi in the Foyer in Saint-Genis Request was discussed with the Foyer – During the works
the WiFi has been reinstalled and improved. Since this period no complaints have been registered by Saint-Genis
nor the CERN hotel.
7Cars to be scrapped near the CLIC building to be
removedWe are looking for another place for this parking.
Half of the present cars are going to be removed and scrapped.
8Organise with ESSO the same procedure we had with
BP ESSO to be contacted – Procedure to be established with
the support of the purchasing service
9Family card for unmarried couples with children To be registered as ‘family member’ or as external, refer to:

11Is the code of conduct available in Building 55? The code of conduct is available in Building 55 and given
to every new person registered at CERN.
12Closure of the service regarding the replacement of lost
keys for very old furniture. Only an average of 5 requests per week.
Some keys no longer available.The new proposal is to change the cylinder.
This procedure is already in place for more recent furniture (10 – 15 years old).
Service Desk has been informed regarding this procedure.

CERN Hotel – Renovation Building 38 – Proposal

Building 38 could comprise: • 28 shared rooms (Currently
26);• 88 single rooms with
washbasin (Currently 58);• 80 single with shower
(Currently 60).
The 30 single rooms with washbasin and toilet and the 25 double rooms will disappear.
Total of 196 rooms (Currently 199).
Does this proposal answer CERN users needs?
LS1 - Car fleet increase
• Based on extension of current contracts ;• Maximum estimated number of additional cars is as follows:
• 114 Cat B• 37 Cat A• For a total number of 151 vehicles of which 20 will be allocated to PH
Department• Agreement with contractors to mount and maintain winter tyres all year
round on the CERN car fleet.

Restaurants & Snack Service
1. Cafeteria refurbished in Building 40;
2. Early 2013, renovation of the cafeterias in Buildings 6 and 30;
3. 2 additional vending machines at points 2, 4 (May 2013), 6 and 8 (April 2013) for both cold and hot drinks + food;
4. Paper hankerchieves and deodorant already in the vending machine in the Main Building. These items have to be better advertised ;
5. Wider range of products to be available in all vending machines, drinks and food alike;
6. Information about the use of disposable cups in the cafeteria in Building 40 to be installed next week ;
7. 2 microwave oven to be replaced in Restaurant no 1, 2 additional machines have been already ordered.

Car Sharing review – 2/2
1. Add a new station at Point 2; DONE
2. Propose the use of cars from point A to B; IN PROGRESS
3. 5 additional cars in the car-sharing fleet; IN PROGRESS
4. When a car is not available at one station, propose another car at the nearest
station. DONE

List of improvements
Shuttle Service
1. In 2012 nearly 110’000 passengers were transported, i.e. an increase of 18% compared to 2011.
2. Fleet renewal – 3 new buses purchased (31 and 2 x 13 seats)
3. In the first two months of 2013, 16’434 passengers have already been transported.

Bicycle entrances - Prevessin
Between the 6th of August and the 30th of November a new bicycle entrance was opened on the Prevessin site. It was closed at the end of November, and will reopen on the 1st of April.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Gates to be installed at Gate C as a test – Work almost completed.

New bicycle entrance near Gate D ? Agreement from the French and Swiss Customs to be sought.

Electrical cars @ CERN
1. 2 electrical cars being tested for 2 weeks;
2. Excellent feed-back;
3. Introduction of electrical cars for the mailing service as a first step;
4. Beta test also for recharging stations.
