The Collections

Established in the delightful spa town of Harrogate in North Yorkshire, James Brindley is still owned by the Grafton family. With an interior design and product development team, there is no shortage of creative vision and skill to bring about beautiful fabric designs. Their shared aim is to create both classic and contemporary collections that capture and inspire, traversing styles and price points.

James Brindley is home to some of the finest plains, prints, embroideries and jacquards, all exclusively designed and coloured in their harrogate studio. As a growing global brand, james brindley reaches seventeen countries outside of the UK through a network of distributors and agents .

Orton Collection

The Orton Collection, an earthbound story of natural fabrics. Orton’s embroidered arching leaf fronds scale high, while Keld, an orbital embroidery, radiates from it’s 100% linen ground. Derwent’s fluid wave embroidery meanders in six tranquil hues. Ghyll, a textured semi-plain weaves into six gentle colours, such as ‘Robin’s Egg’ and ‘Provence’. Gilpin’s subtle dual tones creates an elegant tweed finish and belying it’s soft handle is suitable for upholstery as well as drapery. Finally, to compliment, Foss, a softly infused plain weave suitable for general domestic upholstery.

Lucca Collection

An intoxicating collection of five textured velvets adapts to chic metropolitan or rural Arcadian projects. Lucca, sleek and pelt-like, glides in with seven luxe hues from the sublime ‘First Frost’ to the intense ‘Thistle’. While Opus, an intricately embossed fabric is deeply opulent in texture and drape. Lupo, a glorious geometric with burnished patina, is available in seven tones from the ethereal ‘Chiffon to the steely ‘Payne Grey’. Apollo, celestrial symmenty collides across the five colourways, complimented by Greco an all-over textured crackled effect.

Carrow Collection

Twenty-four Earth inspired colours in three designs, adapt to a spectrum of design projects and offer an innate sense of classicism tinged with exciting weaves. Carrow, alive with a zig-zag weave, Tully, reminiscent of a heritage tweed, delights in its contemporary livery. May, a demure and subtle coordinating plain with a soft wool feel. All three qualities are suitable for general domestic upholstery and drapes.

Milan Collection

Sensory and tactile, Milan introduces itself into the James Brindley upholstery family. A sleek palette of thirty colours, this 100% Polyester machine washable fabric eases itself effortlessly into both domestic and contract projects, allowing any interior design the liberty of design led colours combined with durability and the allure of velvet.

Herston Collection

Herston, a thoroughbred collection of fifteen colours, is ready to grace design projects and please the aesthectic eye. A soft handle with the cool look of linen, this linen/viscose plain delivers a luxurious fabric for drapes and upholstery. Colours range from the earth tones, through to the coastal ‘Picton Blue’ and the almost edible ‘Berry’.

Largo Collection

Four luxurious embroidered designs that meander across eight of our historic viscose/silk velvet base shades. The lead design, Largo, features gilded leaves unfurling into a fine tonal embroidery. Arabella’s elegant trail of embroidered leaves enchants and gleams from its sumptuous base. Orlo, an ethereal embroidered foliage design in fine gilt thread, delights in its flowing repeat. Cavalli, reminiscent of a stellar sky, emulates a contemporary take on the timeless damask.

Marlow Collection

Evocative of English country hedgerows and flora, Marlow’s four embroidered designs work beautifully as a story for a myriad of drapery and soft furnishing projects. Marlow, the lead design, features swaying tendrils that capture the senses. Gallium’s strong freeform trellis mesmerizes with an ever connecting and curving repeat. Arley, ordered and wistful, depicts a delicate leaf stem bathed in sunlight. Finally Rubus, a structured tone on tone fern design inspired by the art of botanical drawing.

Luna Collection

For over 3000 years the world has enjoyed the magical lure of pure silk. At James Brindley we have long appreciated the versatility of this timeless fabric. So with a fresh new palette of 75 colours, from the vibrant ‘Clementine’ to the subtle ‘Gilly Grey’, James Brindley launch the Luna Collection.

Tempus & Tanah Collection

James Brindley has further extended its range of affordable plain upholstery fabrics with the launch of the Tanah and Tempus Collections. Tanah, a 100% Polyester with a textured linen look, has a wide selection of neutral tones. The Tempus Collection, a rainbow spectrum of forty-two colours in 100% Cotton, breathes life into essential general domestic upholstery projects.

Jali Collection

The Jali Collection, a celebration of the decorative textiles of India, Java and Indonesia. The two printed fabrics Jali and Obi are interpretations of Indonesian Ikats and Javanese wax resist Batiks, whilst the three embroideries, Flores, a trailing leaf, Myia, a classic Paisley and Timor, a strong repeating single motif, truly round off the Ethnic tradition of colour and pattern.

Eden Collection

With five irresistible natural fabric compositions, from pure linens, viscose/silk, linen/cottons and 100% cottons, the Eden Collection perfectly blends ethnic and modern designs. Choose from the classic hand crafted crewel design Jemima, the geometric weave of Topo, or the ‘tree of life’ design Eden. There are two print choices, the leafy swirls of Noa and the stunning ethnic inspired print Zaffira, depicting elephants meandering across a vast plain.

Flora Collection

The Flora Collection is reminiscent of a classic English garden and is coloured for all seasons. Edie, a tactile linen and bamboo jacquard, harmoniously introduces soft tones to compliment Flora, an embroidered peony rose and Gloria, a vibrant cotton lily print bursting with energy and swirling tendrils. The classic small check, pure wool design of Emma, delivers timeless sophistication for drapes and upholstery whilst Connie, a plain cotton upholstery, compliments the six colour choices of each design.

Vendee Collection

Inspired by the great success of the Vendee Velvet from the Chantilly Collection, the range has been extended from a selection of eight colours to fifty three, in one single book. A versatile textured, heavy weight velvet suitable for both general domestic upholstery and drapery and befitting of its great popularity, the Vendee velvet now has a collection all of its own.

Oberon Collection

The Oberon Collection is a duo of plain and crushed silk velvet, specifically designed for opulent drapes and soft furnishings. In fifty six colours from the classically soft Rose, Putty and Mercury in Oberon Crushed Velvet, to the resplendent and regal colours of Shiraz, Silver Frost and Autumn Gold in Oberon Plain. Oberon delivers a sublime and key ingredient to an array of interior projects.

Arkendale Collection

Explore the exotics and journey into the Arkendale Collection. Glossy silk viscose velvets are resplendent with antiqued gold, bronze and silver prints. Seven spicy or sultry shades will charm more than just eastern tastes; Blaze Orange, Autumn Gold, Lime Light, Red Grape, Nocturne Grey, Silver Frost and Galaxy Grey. Four designs and a coordinating plain ensure something for traditional or contemporary environments.

Lindley Collection

Designed to appeal to modern and traditional tastes alike, from period charm to contemporary modern, the Lindley Collection remains true to the brands reputation for luxurious, versatile home style and exceptional quality. With three elegant embroideries to choose from and complimented by a choice of co-ordinating textured upholstery fabrics, to either blend with existing tones or add fresh striking accents.

Chantilly Collection

Bridging palatial grandeur and rustic simplicity, the Chantilly collection has six designs and a textured plain velvet. Pin-striped Napoleon, Lille Vine and Loire Buddleia make strong vertical statements, while Chantilly depicts avenues of blossom trees and brings an eternal spring beauty to the collection. Versailles, an all over damask embroidery and Lyon, a thistle emblem design, compliment the truly French inspired collection.

Dalton Collection

The Dalton Collection offers a versatile and stylish mix of plaids in a classic neutral palette. The tailored charm of Dalton, Wiston and Applecross are sourced from the U.K’s finest pure wool and are suitable for both upholstery and drapery. Johnstone, Paxton and Whitburn, a blend of cotton and man-made fibres, are also perfect for upholstery. Melrose and Lorn’s soft and warm texture in 100% Cotton are suitable for drapery.

Intaglio Collection

With five designs that inject either modern glamour or rekindle historic styling, the Intaglio collection of embellished Viscose Silk Velvets is inspired by the love of the old and the new. The Intaglio design features foliage, resplendent in metallic embroidery reminiscent of a hand engraving, while the scrolling Acanthus is lavished in heavy all-over embroidery. In contrast there are two simple companions; Stellar scattered with crystals and the Intaglio plain. The two final designs of Cartouche with its scrolling calligraphy form and Hussar with a regimented cord effect complete the collection.
