IMAGE SITE – INTRODUCTION
ImageSite is a web-based collaboration solution for storing information. ImageSite
administrators define online projects that organize documents into folders. Within these projects,
users can find, view, work with, and publish business documents of all kinds.
IMAGESITE FEATURES Using ImageSite, you can:
Quickly find documents or folders within a specific project, or across all projects on the site.
With only a web browser, view most raster file types (tif, tg4, cal, jpg, bmp) in the ImageSite viewer. Distribute or submit them for printing with job ticket information at the ImageSite print server.
View other file types in their native application on the client and download them for distribution.
View and print most raster, CAD, and document file formats in use today. Supported file types include most common raster types plus Adobe PDF; MicroSoft DOC, PPT, PPS, and XLS; MicroStation DGN; AutoCAD DWG drawing, parts, and assembly files; Inventor parts, assemblies, and drawing files.
Download or e-mail documents with a self-contained viewer program, to allow off-line document viewing, printing, measuring, and marking up.
OBTAINING ACCESS
An e-mail must be send to ImageSite Administrator at [email protected] requesting
access to the site.
When filling out the form all available folders should be selected for viewing or
downloading images
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Any performance issues shall be communicated to ImageSite Administrator at
Any questions related to finding records shall be communicated to M. Kolominsky at

Enter:
http://mstecimg01p.corp.toronto.ca/ims/
Once the Image Site page has opened, save it to the Favorites bar in your Internet
Browser.
Anytime you want to open Image Site, simply click on that link in your Favorites bar.
IMAGESITE FOLDERS STRUCTURE
Currently there are 10 root folders where the images are stored. These folders are created based
on the related disciplines or organizational units:

SEARCHING FOR RECORDS
GENERIC SEARCH
The most important attributes to search by are (in order of priority):
Street Name, From/At, To
o Note: The more fields you search by, the less number of records will be returned.
For example, if you search for Yonge Street only, then many records will appear
in the ImageSite window, but if you select Street Name = Yonge St and From/At
= Elm St only a handful of records will become available)
Contract (for Capital Work projects if known)
- Below is a sample search
- Below is result of the search
6
SIMPLE SEARCH
A simpler search may be more efficient if the file name is known. If the file name is known then
you can select ALL projects and enter the files name as per sample below:
One way to determine a file name is to use the following link:
http://insideto-map.toronto.ca/maps/map.jsp?app=TWAG_IVIEW
This link will open a viewer that displays sewer/water assets. By searching for a specific
location, for example Yonge* and Elm* and clicking and holding on a watermain or sewer line,
user can locate Engineering Drawing Number as per image below
7
SPECIFIC FOLDERS/PROJECTS
ENGINEERING RECORDS (LINEAR DRAWINGS)
There are several types of Engineering Drawings stored under ENGINEERING folder in
ImageSte, such as:
Drawings related to Linear Capital Works projects (Toronto Water and
Transportation) with status
o Tender
o As Built
o Markup (red line drawings)
Drawings related to Development projects
o file names that start with DEV -* are drawings for large subdivisions
o file names that start with DEV-SP-* are drawings for Site Plans (small
development projects, i.e. apartments, schools, churches, etc…)
8
MF&S STRUCTURES (BRIDGES & EXPRESSWAYS)
Image Site will open in the FIND page. Select the category you want from the Projects
drop-down menu.
Your main Projects category will be MF & S Structures (Major Facilities and Structures
– Structures).
We will use Structure number 042 as an example to search for.
Note: You can find the Structure Number by copying and pasting the following
link to your browser and saving it to your Favorites bar:
\\mstecimg01p\Drawings\Document\WFS\MajorWorksFacilities.pdf
9
Click on the Bridges and Expressways link - then select Allow
Use the View Controls at the bottom of the screen to zoom in to the
area of interest
Click on the desired Structure number - then select Allow - and then
Open
10
A list of plans for that structure will appear (it may appear behind your
browser window).
Click on the desired plan - and select Okay. (again, it may appear behind your
browser window).
When the image appears, you can then print it on your choice of paper size
11
VIEW, SAVE OR PRINT
After executing your search in Image Site, a thumbnail picture or pictures and drawing
description(s) will appear.
After clicking on the thumbnail picture the image will appear in a separate window
with view controls in the upper right corner. Use these to zoom in or out, etc. Click
the X in the upper right corner to close the image view window.
For some image types, after mouse-clicking the thumbnail picture, there is an
intermediate screen that appears with two buttons at the top, one above the other. The
two buttons are labelled:
Help and Show Viewer. If this screen appears, then please mouse-click the Show
Viewer button. This will generate the actual image file for viewing.
12
If you click on the thumbnail picture and a blank screen appears, click on the Download
icon. You can also use this feature to save a copy of the image.
You will then see a message at the bottom of the screen prompting you to either
Open the image or Save it.
If you select Open a thumbnail image appears in zipped format in a separate window.
Double-click on the thumbnail image and the plan appears for viewing.
If you select Save As, you can save a copy of the plan in a selected location (eg. on
'H' drive).
13
If using Save As to copy the file(s) to your 'H' or 'C' drive, keep in mind the following:
If the image was loaded to Image Site as a pdf file, you can also save it as a pdf file.
The pdf file can then be printed on 11" x 17" paper. This is the preferred method
for printing because it is the easiest way to get a good quality print on 11" x 17"
paper.
If the image was loaded to Image Site as a tiff file, then you would have to save it as a
tiff. The tiff files are not always as good for printing
You can also send selected images to the Out Basket for saving copies or for printing. If
you had searched for the entire set of plans for Structure 42 in Contract 03FS-19S, you
can either
click on Select All
or you can click the Select check-box beside some of the images.
14
You would then select Add selected items to Out Basket
Then click the Out Basket tab
In the Out Basket you can select Download All or Print All at Server.
In Print Destination select Metro_Hall_16th Floor
click Next
