GRUELING STRETCH CONTINUES The gauntlet continues as the Blue Devils face two more ranked opponents this weekend in No. 13 Boston University and No. 15 Boston College ... Duke logged consecutive victories over No. 13 Liberty, No. 6 Maryland, No. 16 Northwestern and No. 11 Virginia before dispatching No. 6 Louisville Sept. 16 ... The squad’s 2016 schedule features 12 teams ranked in the latest National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll, including two of the top five in No. 2 North Carolina and No. 4 Syracuse.

BLUE DEVILS’ DEPTH ON DISPLAY Head coach Pam Bustin’s squad has relied upon the entire bench to fuel the 8-1 start ... The Blue Devils have utilized at least eight substitutes off the bench in all but one contest ... Fifteen different players have registered at least one point on the season ... Sophomore forward Rose Tynan leads all Blue Devils off the bench with five goals and is the squad’s third-leading scorer.

MORRIS TURNS IN CAREER HIGH AGAINST DUKES Senior forward Heather Morris recorded four goals in Duke’s 7-1 victory over James Madison Sept. 11, notching all four scores in the first half ... The four goals tied for third on the program’s all-time single game chart and were the most by a Blue Devil since Amie Survilla registered four against New Hampshire Sept. 27, 2009 ... Morris collected Ronald McDonald House Charities Duke Student-Athlete of the Week recognition for the performance ... She continues to lead the Blue Devils in points (17) and goals (8) this season.

CHILLANO HONORED FOR B1G/ACC CUP PERFORMANCE Junior back Alyssa Chillano was tabbed the ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week Sept. 6 after helping the Blue Devils capture their second consecutive B1G/ACC Cup title ... Chillano anchored a back line that recorded its second shutout in a 1-0 victory over No. 6 Maryland ... She provided offensive firepower in a 3-2 win against No. 16 Northwestern, putting away the game winner in the 76th minute.

NEW FACES TO KNOW The Blue Devils welcomed four freshmen to the program this season in back Kirby Comizio, midfielder Margaux Paolino, midfielder Haley Schleicher and back Jilian Wolgemuth ... Paolino and Schleicher were both ranked among the nation’s top five recruits by MaxFieldHockey.com, while Comizio and Wolgemuth appeared on the website’s top 50 list ... Head coach Pam Bustin bolstered the Duke roster with the addition of two graduate students - midfielder/forward Aisling Naughton, who came to Durham from Dublin, Ireland, and Chessie Ruffell, a back from Norfolk, England ... Bustin also made two additions to the Blue Devil coaching staff over the summer, welcoming assistant coach Wesley Drew and volunteer assistant coach Valerie Dahmen.

RED, WHITE AND BLUE DEVILS Former Duke standouts Stefanie Fee (’12) and Lauren Blazing (’16) have been training with the U.S. women’s national team in Lancaster, Pa., while Fee earned a spot on USA Field Hockey’s roster for the 2016 Olympic Games ... A first-time Olympian, Fee helped Team USA make a strong statement, going from a last-place finish in 2012 to reaching the quarterfinal round in Rio ... Freshman Margaux Paolino also donned the red, white and blue over the summer, helping the U.S. U21 team win silver at the Junior Pan American Games in Trinidad and Tobago.

The 2013 NFHCA South Region Coach of the Year and a member of the USA Field Hockey Hall of Fame, Pam Bustin has revital-ized the Duke field hockey program in her five seasons in Durham, guiding the Blue Devils to a 73-41 ledger and a trip to the 2013 NCAA title game.

The 2015 season saw Duke earn a spot in the NCAA semifinals for the second time in three years. Under Bustin’s direction, the Blue Devils went 14-7 against the nation’s strongest schedule, with 11 of the 14 wins coming against ranked opponents. The squad matched a program record with seven players on the NFHCA All-South Region teams, and featured a pair of All-Americans in goalkeeper Lauren Blazing and midfielder Aileen Johnson.

The Blue Devils earned their third NCAA Tournament bid in four years in 2014, concluding the season in the quarterfinals with a 13-7 record. Bustin’s squad started off the fall on a six-game win streak for the program’s best start to a season since 1978. Duke hosted the ACC Tournament for the first time since 2008 and boasted three All-America selections in Abby Beltrani, Blazing and Johnson.

A historic 2013 campaign culminated with Duke reaching the NCAA championship match for the first time since 2005. The Blue Devils reached the title match with a 3-2 semifinal upset of top-ranked and top-seeded Maryland, a win that also marked the 200th of Bustin’s collegiate coaching career. The squad finished the fall with a 17-7 ledger, including five wins over top-10 opponents, while Paula Heimbach, Emmie Le Marchand and Blazing received All-America recognition and Bustin was named the South Region Coach of the Year.

In 2012, Duke sent six players to the Junior Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, where they gained valuable inter-national playing experience despite missing five regular season games. The Blue Devils concluded the fall with a 7-11 record, though 10 of the 11 losses on the season were to opponents ranked in the top 25 nationally.

Bustin’s first year at Duke saw the team finish the season ranked sixth in the nation, advance to the 2011 ACC Championship match with a 2-1 victory over eventual national champion Maryland in the semifinals and earn an NCAA tournament bid. Bustin earned ACC Coach of the Year honors at the conclusion of the season for the third conference coach of the year ac-colade of her career. She was previously named Big East Coach of the Year and MAC Coach of the Year.

In four years, Bustin has overseen 13 All-America selections, 27 All-South Region picks and 17 All-ACC honorees. During her tenure, the team has also excelled off the field with 25 selections to the All-ACC Academic team. The squad has been recognized at a national level, twice earning Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team distinction after compiling a collective team grade point average that ranks among the best in the country. Individually, 30 Blue Devils have been named to the Division I National Academic Squad, with Lauren Blazing and Kendra Perrin receiving Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction accolades and Blazing winning the Elite 90 Award in 2015.

USA FIELD HOCKEY EXPERIENCEIn addition to her collegiate coaching duties, Bustin currently serves as an assistant coach with the United States National Under-19 and Under-21 teams, working regularly to develop the nation’s junior players. Prior to assuming her current posi-tion with U.S. Field Hockey, she was an assistant for the U.S. National Team, helping the United States to an eighth place finish at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Bustin guided the United States to the country’s first Olympic berth since 1996 as the team went 6-0 at the Kazan Olympic Qualifier in 2008. Bustin is a U.S. Field Hockey accredited Level III coach and instructs coaching courses throughout the country as well.

Prior to coaching at the Olympic level, Bustin served as team captain on the United States Under-21 team from 1987-89, competing in the 1986, 1987, 1989 and 1990 U.S. Olympic Festivals. In 1989, she helped the U.S. capture a silver medal at the Junior Pan American Games before being named to the U.S. National Team, playing with the national squad through the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Bustin was selected to the USA Field Hockey’s Hall of Fame Class of 2014, the first group to be inducted since 2004.

COLLEGIATE CAREERA 1990 graduate of the University of Massachusetts, Bustin was a four-year letterwinner (1985-88), team captain, team MVP and All-Atlantic 10 honoree, in addition to garnering a first team All-America selection and Honda-Broderick Award nomination as female athlete of the year in 1988. UMass made the NCAA Tournament in each of her four years in Amherst and advanced to the national semifinals in 1987. In the spring of 2012, Bustin was honored by being inducted into the UMass Hall of Fame.
