“L'enthousiasme du nouveau départ ”

Au moment de passer de ce monde à son Père, Jésus donne l'élan missionnaire qui inspirera toutes les générations: "Criez la joyeuse nouvelle à toute la création Car le verbe grec kèrussô signifie littéralement crier et proclamer. Si nous avons la curiosité de lire le verset qui précède notre texte, nous trouvons: "Enfin, il se manifesta aux Onze eux-mêmes pendant qu'ils étaient à table: il leur reprocha leur incrédulité et leur endurcissement parce qu'ils n'avaient pas cru ceux qui l'avaient vu ressuscité." Ainsi du même souffle, Jésus passe du reproche de l'incrédulité à l'envoi missionnaire. Il a choisi d'avoir besoin de ceux et celles qui ont accueilli le don de la foi, de faire appel à leur enthousiasme malgré leurs premiers doutes et leurs tergiversations. Mais comment pourrait-on avoir douté et crier la joyeuse nouvelle à la création? Dans la première lecture, saint Luc situe l'Ascension au cœur du judaïsme. En saint Marc, suivi en cela par saint Matthieu, les disciples revoient Jésus en Galilée, au pays verdoyant du premier appel et du premier envoi. Etre disciple, dans la tradition de saint Marc, c'est vivre au printemps de la Galilée et vibrer aux premiers appels de Jésus. Celui qui a été rejeté et crucifié, Dieu l'a relevé. C'est la victoire de la vie: invitation universelle; règne de Dieu pour ceux et celles qui l'ont cherché; service gratuit et fraternel dans la famille du Christ; joie pour les exclus; affection envers tous; fraîcheur et liberté; joyeux cortège des disciples: noces, vin de l'alliance, musique et chants de fête. Car aucun obstacle ne peut désormais entraver la réalisation de la Promesse. L'Église de Rome, au milieu de laquelle écrivait sans doute saint Marc, a surmonté la terrible persécution de Néron.(3) Aucun poison n'est mortel et aucun serpent n'est plus à craindre. Après les hésitations et les doutes, dans ce récit de l'Ascension, c'est la fraîcheur et l'enthousiasme du nouveau départ.

THE ASCENSION OF THE LORD

The Ascension of our Lord occurred 40 days after Jesus Christ rose from the dead on Easter Sunday. On this day, the risen Christ, in the presence of His apostles, ascended in body, to heaven. He was lifted from this world to His throne. This happened before the eyes of the apostles who got to witness first hand the marriage of Heaven and Earth as Jesus ascended into heaven. In the book of Genesis 1, through His mighty Word and hovering Spirit, God created humanity, male and female, destined to be united in one flesh. With the creation, an epic love story began between heaven and earth that would be reaffirmed on the day of the Ascension of the Lord. On the day of His ascension, Jesus established a new relationship between heaven and earth because in Him all things live and move and have their being. Jesus ascending into heaven in body and spirit means that earth’s destiny is heaven. The Ascension of the Lord is the marriage of heaven and earth Jesus spoke of an intimate communion between Him and those who would follow Him, “Abide in me, and I in you...” There is an intimate bond, like that of marriage, between Christ and His Church. The wedding has begun. The union of heaven and earth has been achieved in Christ. Like the vow between a man and woman united in marriage, it cannot be undone.

LA ASCENSIÓN DEL SEÑOR

La ascensión ocurrió unos 40 días después de que Jesucristo resucitó de la muerte el domingo de Pascua. En ese momento, el Cristo resucitado, en presencia de sus apóstoles, ascendió en cuerpo al cielo. Se levantó de este mundo a su trono. Esto

sucedió ante los ojos de los apóstoles que llegaron a ser testigos de ese momento donde se unió en matrimonio el cielo y la tierra. En el libro de Génesis 1, a través de su palabra poderosa y suspensión de espíritu, Dios creó a la humanidad, hombre y mujer, destinados a estar unidos en una sola carne. Con la creación comenzó una historia épica

de amor entre el cielo y la tierra, la cual se reafirmó en el día de la ascensión del Señor. El día de su ascensión, Jesús estableció una nueva relación entre el cielo y la tierra porque en él todas las cosas viven, se mueven y existen (Hechos 17:28). Jesús ascendiendo al cielo en cuerpo y espíritu significa que el destino de la tierra es el cielo. La ascensión del Señor es el matrimonio del cielo y la tierra Jesús habla de una comunión íntima entre Él y los que le siguen, "Permanezcan en mí y yo en ti..." Hay un vínculo íntimo, como el del matrimonio, entre Cristo y su iglesia. Ha comenzado la boda. La unión del cielo y la tierra se han logrado en Cristo. Así como el compromiso entre un hombre y una mujer unidos en matrimonio no se puede deshacer, la unión del cielo y la tierra tampoco se puede deshacer.
