Held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance, The Young ADIPEC Talks took place at the Abu Dhabi International Exhibition & Conference (ADIPEC) from 11-14 November 2019.
Hosted at the Young ADIPEC stand in Hall 14, the Young ADIPEC Talks delivered a platform for the next generation of future oil and gas professionals to connect with the industry, at one of the world’s largest oil and gas events. Young ADIPEC 2019 offered industry leaders an opportunity to connect, engage, inspire and empower the youth of today.

He moved with his career to the UK, Oman and Iraq, and is now working with the capacity of a UAE Country Operations Manager and Joint Venture Director for Shell Aviation in the UAE.

Emotional intelligence is our ability to identify, evaluate, control, and express our emotions. in this session participants will learn about the benefits of emotional intelligence, which include; increased self-awareness, stress management, higher motivation, more empathy and compassion for others, better communication and decision-making .Justin earned his PhD in experimental psychology from the University of Manchester. He is a chartered health psychologist with the British Psychological Society. He is currently a professor of psychology at Zayed University, where he is department chair and director of the Research Cluster for Culture, Cognition and Wellbeing. Justin has published extensively (50 + articles) on topics related to psychological wellbeing and psychopathology.

Participants were inspired by the successful journey of Engineer Hussam Al Takroni from Saudi Arabia.Hussam is a Senior Mechanical Instructor at SPSP leading a group of 15 Instructors to qualify and graduate 100 Saudi trainees specialized in mechanical technology to work in the biggest companies in the oil and gas industry.

Participants learned about safeguarding themselves in today’s digital society and the importance of being aware and protecting their online privacy. Giuseppe Maltese was born in Palermo (Italy) on 08 November 1982. After developing his education in scientific background in the high school, he gradueted from the University of Study in Palermo with Masters degree in Mechanical Engineer (with a qualification in Renewable Energy) in 2007. Afterwards he was engaged by Eni headquarter in Milan (Italy 2007) where he started as a drilling engineer. Giuseppe worked in many projects in different countries. Participants had the opportunity to learn about Wintershall Dea SPEAD programme. The aim of the programme is to develop the skills of young and highly qualified university graduates. The programme offers a tailor-made combination of “on the job training” supplemented with dedicated technical training for 24 months to equip young engineers with the skills and competencies to excel in their future roles.Jan Himmerkus has a master degree in Geology and Paleontology from University of Bonn, Germany. Students built a different kind of robots that use
ultrasonic sensor to sense their environment. With the app, students programmed
the robots’ motors to behave in different ways depending on the data coming from the
ultrasonic sensor.
Students participated in three different health and
safety challenges.
Students learnt through workshops some of the
engineering design processes. Students worked as a team
and built a prototype of different oil and gas related
projects.
Students shared an inspiring, creative experience, and
explored and understood the oil and gas industry through creating an oil rig using the provided materials at the
workshop. Students entered a competition and built an oil rig,
winners received medals.

Students learnt about chemical engineering through a series of workshops and witnessed different chemical reactions.
Students participated in a series of workshops;
Appreciative Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Robotics and AI, Game Development,
Mt First Android App, Food as Medicine and Cardiac Electrical
Activity.
Students entered a challenging and fun game zone, they built
a circuit pathway across a game grid from start to finish.
Students participated in three energy challenges, in each
challenge students learnt about how ADNOC delivers energy to
the UAE and to the world.
Students were introduced to nine winning projects of Think Science 2019. Students had the opportunity to connect with young inventors and
learnt about each invention.
