PROGRAM AGENDA
PURPOSECardiovascular Medicine is a specialty of rapidly changing therapies with new evidence of medical, interventional and surgical treatments. This conference is intended for primary care providers, cardiologists, allied health professionals and nursing staff to stay current as to advances in cardiovascular medicine. This program will present the latest techniques and technologies in devices, valvular disease, the evaluation of chest pain, vascular disease as well as new advances in cardio-oncology, update on lipid management and cardiovascular genetics.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
Perioperative Management of Cardiac Pacemakers and Defibrillators
T Discuss the effect of electrocautery of implanted cardiac pacing/defibrillation devices
T Assess when and how to best use a magnet or reprogramming to manage cardiac pacing/defibrillation devices perioperatively
Low Risk Aortic StenosisT Define low risk aortic stenosis criteriaT Identify risks and benefits of Transcatheter Aortic Valve
Replacement vs Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement
Non-invasive Evaluation of Chest Pain T Summarize the current non-invasive modalities for evaluating
chest painT Analyze strengths and limitations of each modalityT Identify situations that a specific imaging modality is indicated
Infrainguinal Arterial Interventions: From Pharmacology to Revascularization!
T Review the epidemiology and implications of peripheral arterial disease
T Discuss optimal strategy in Infrainguinal arterial interventions
Cardio Oncology -An OverviewT Recognize the cardiac side effects of chemotherapyT Recognize the impact of radiation on the heart
Lipid Management Update 2020T Review current guidelines on lipid managementT Indicate how drugs for LDL-cholesterol and triglyceride
reduction work and their indications
Why and How Should I Use Cardiovascular Genetics in My Practice?
T Explain the principles of human geneticsT Specify the types of genes associated with cardiomyopathies,
heritable arrhythmias, and aortopathiesT Interpret genetic test results and apply them to patients and
families
