7 Things You Need to Give Up for a Positive
Mental Health
With the hustle and bustle in the city, no wonder people are getting more prone to stress,
depression, and anxiety.
This makes them feel bad about their lives as if all the burden of the world
have been thrown into their shoulders.
As this scenario becomes more common among us, there are a lot of tips and
advices spreading around on how you can improve your mental health.
But before you go on engaging yourself to
start doing new things, why not give up first some of the ones that pull you
down?
Give up being a perfectionist.
Being a perfectionist isn’t perfect at all. The more we strive to make something perfect, the more frustrated we can get. Sometimes, getting
the job done is already fine as long as you give it your best shot.
Give up unhealthy habits.
These habits like being late, procrastinating, putting things off, having an untidy area, and breaking the rules are just some examples of habits that
when we continually do hinder us to success and might lead to a big disappointment.
Give up dwelling on negative emotions.
One negative thought in the morning can ruin your whole day. Most of the times, being happy is just a matter of choice. If you choose to dwell on
negativity, you’ll surely attract negative vibes and end up getting cranky.
Give up self-pity.
Stop looking at yourself like you’re a hopeless wretched person. Forget about not being worthy, loved, nor blessed. Think about it, you’re still alive and breathing. There are others who are having it worse. Just give up self-
pity. Period.
Give up abusing your body.
We have succumbed into unhealthy eating habits. We
fail to drink a lot of water everyday nor eat fruits and
vegetables during mealtime. We sleep so late or sometimes, don’t sleep at all. We keep on abusing our physical body that it comes to a certain point that
our mental health gets affected too.
Give up thinking too much.
As the English proverb goes, “Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do but it doesn’t get you
anywhere.” Sometimes, we tend to complicate the situation because we think too much but don’t act upon it.
Give up monotony.
When we do things over and over again, it eventually becomes tedious and exhausting. This eventually leads to boredom and dullness. So, if
you want a better life, give up monotonous activities.
