    Reading: Psychology of intelligence analysis

Of the diverse problems that impede accurate intelligence

analysis, those inherent in human mental processes are surely

among the most important and most difficult to deal with.

A basic finding of cognitive psychology is that people have no

conscious experience of most of what happens in the human

mind. Many functions associated with perception, memory, and

information processing are conducted prior to and independently

    of any conscious direction.

This book differs from those works in two respects. It analyzes

problems from the perspective of intelligence analysts rather

    than policymakers.

A central focus of this book is to illuminate the role of the

observer in determining what is observed and how it is

    interpreted.

People construct their own version of reality on the basis of

information provided by the senses, but this sensory input in

mediated by complex mental processes that determine which

information is attended to, how it is organized, and the

    meaning attributed to it.

    Reading: What is stress?

Stress is trickly to pin down. It isnt just being under pressure-for this

is not always stressful-but some kind of mismatch between what the

body nd brain anticipate and what challenges we actually experience

    or fell.

Stress is a fundament process. It affects all organisms, from the

simplest bacterium and protozoan, to complex eukayotes such as

    mammals.

Stress is perceived ad response co-ordinated by the brain.

The hypotahalamus is the key brain area regulating many of our

    hormones.
