The Omaha DynastyTrade Me?
I will give you a pb & j and my granola bar for half your slice of pizza and string cheese.
The best thing about being an owner in a dynasty league is your ability to draft, trade and plan
for the future. It allows you the feeling that you have control over your team and its direction.
We have had some epic trades in the past including Leises heist of Clinton Portis for Byron
Leftwich, Fyfes fleecing of my teams next three 1st
round draft picks for 5 games of Randy
Moss and Garland was gifted Frank Gore from Leise for Deon Branch. At the time all of those
trades were tough to evaluate, but through time the winner and loser become very clear. Since
2009 we have averaged about 3 trades a year. I am hoping we can up that number to 5 this year.
Nish and Svehla are clearly the least active traders, while Fyfe and Leise are the most active.
Here are 5 trades that could happen this year. My goal, if your team is included, is to make you
stop and think..hmmmm, maybe.
1) Maurice Jones-Drew (Nish) for Mike Wallace (Luke) Why Should Luke do this trade? Luke is currently running a dominant dynasty, 3
years in a row of total points champion. He team is stacked at almost every
position except 2nd
RB. Jones-Drew would bring stability and potentially a top
five running back. He was injured most of last year, but still averaged 4.8 yards
per carry. A sign that he can still move. Luke is also stacked at receiver and could
absorb the loss of Wallace.
Why Should Nish do this trade?Nishs team is not going to contend this year fora points title and more than likely not next year. Jones-Drew is valuable for the
next 1 to 2 years, but not beyond that time frame. Mike Wallace would bring a
young productive receiver into the fold and give Nish 5-7 years of productivity vs
1-2 years of productivity.
2) Roddy White, Matt Ryan and 1st Round Pick 2013(2nd Pick) (Kelley) for Doug Martinand 1
stRound Pick 2014 (Unprotected) (Garland)
Why Should Kelley do this trade? Kelley needs playmakers and needs to thinkabout the future. This guarantees him a top 3 RB going into his second year as a
pro. This is a young, elite player new to the Kelley franchise. He may give up a
good draft spot in this years draft, but he would be lucky to get someone as good
as Martin and will have two picks next year. Roddy White will do Kelley no good
and has the most value to his team as a trade chip. Kelley has Kapernick to take
over as starting QB.

The Omaha Dynasty Why should Garland do this trade? I am sure everyone stopped reading when theysaw Doug Martin in a trade thinking Why would Garland trade Martin? Here is
why:
oSuper upgrade at QB: Garland was super close to winning last year, butwas putrid at QB. Matt Ryan has improved every year in yards and tds
almost topping 5000 yards last year and throwing 32 tds. He is a little
undervalued and could be a top three QB, especially with his receivers.
oUpgrade at Receiver: Garland has lots of good, but questionable receivers.White has been a top three receiver the last three years and should
continue that trend this year and next.
oChance to replace Martin: He also receives the 2nd overall pick and has achance to find an elite player to replace Martin.
oTwo other good RBs: Garland has Jamaal Charles and Matt Forte as hisother rbs. These two are both capable of being top 5 rbs.
3) Torrey Smith (Leise) for 2nd round pick 2013 and 2014 (Hargis)
oWhy should Leise do this trade? Leise needs to turn any asset into moreassets. Torrey Smith is a good player, but will never be an elite player.
Leise is not looking to add one or two pieces to be a contender, but needs
to find some diamonds. Two second round draft picks gives him picks 1,
6, 8, 11 and 13 in 2013 and 3 top 20 picks in 2013. That gives him 5
chances this year to find a couple of great to elite players and some
options for next year.
oWhy should Hargis do this trade? Hargiss team is an anomaly at thispoint. He could be good, but he could also be bad. One thing is for sure, he
needs help at WR. Smith would give him stability at the position and
could have a little upside this year. Smith should be seeing more targets
this year with Boldin gone and is always good for a couple of bomb shots
a game. The cost of two second round picks shouldnt hurt him to bad. Darren Sproles (Naughton) for 2nd round pick 2013 and 2014 (Svehla)
oWhy should Naughton do this trade? Naughton is stuck in mediocre land.Sproles will be useful for him this year, but his team is probably not strong
enough to compete with Sproles as a top running back. Two second
rounders is not gold (it is more like collecting copper), but it could be
useful depending how they are allocated.

The Omaha Dynastyo
Why should Svehla do this trade? Svehla is thin at running back andSproles is the type of back that is a great stop gap a couple of games a
year. He could be the 30-50 point difference Svehla needs to challenge for
a points title.
4) Brandon Marshall and Andre Johnson (Svehla) for Russell Wilson, Jon Baldwin, 2014 1stround pick and 2016 1
stround pick (Pryor)
Why would Svehla do this trade? Svehlas team is teetering on being old and hesees the agony of Leise at every draft. Nicks chance of winning this year is small
and would get smaller next year. With this trade he has a replacement for Brees
and a younger, though less proven receiver, in Baldwin. He also picks up two
draft picks to infuse his team with some young talent.
Why would Prokorov.err Pryor do this trade? Pryor is tired of the media writingabout him being a bridesmaid. He wants a super team to knock off Luke. With
this trade his starting skill players would be Manning, Peterson, CJ2K, Fitzgerald,
Johnson, Marshall and Lynch. That is a formidable squad.
5) Arian Foster (Nish) for David Wilson, 2013 1st Round Pick and 2015 1st Round Pick Why would Svehla do this trade? He instantly becomes dangerous to Lukes
dynasty. He turns his biggest weakness into a strength. His lineup would be Brees,Foster, Ridley, Cobb, Marshall, An Johnson and Stevie Johnson. That is a team
that could take it all. He does lose some future draft picks, but he will have assets
to sell, if his team underachieves.
Why would Nish do this trade?Nishs team needs some a shot of something toget them moving towards the future. It is going to be tough to fully take advantage
of Fosters prime and he is at his highest value right now. David Wilson is a bit of
an unknown, but certainly has talent. Two future #1s could really help his team
find some playmakers.
There you have it. Maybe these trades wont happen, but maybe it will inspire some wheelingand dealing.
