5 REASONS YOUR CLIENTS

ARE NOT GETTING RESULTS

AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT.

With Lorene Sauro, RHN

www.thedigestersdilemma.com

Agenda

Who Am I?

How did I arrive at today?

The 5 reason your clients are not

getting results

The number 1 perspective you need

to adopt

What to do to improve client results

Who Am I

• I am a parental unit for my

niece

• I am the creator of the

Healthy Gut Certificate

Program

• I am the founder and

director of CAHN-Pro

• A teacher at CSNN

• Holistic nutritionist

specializing in gut health

and estrogen dominance

• A pastry chef for 25 years

My Story

• Endometreosis from age 22

• Last bout in 2002 sent me on a course

of research and investigation

• Dr Joel Evans saved me –

provide me with information

to fix myself

• It inspired me to help others

as I had been helped

The Painful Truth

•You have made the choice

to help others

• It’s heartbreaking when the

help you provide does

not help enough

Sustaining A Business

• It also does not help your business

growth

•Referrals are the key to any business

• Our reach as practitioners is limited by the

knowledge that we have

• Knowledge evolves but it can be a struggle

to keep up to date

• But the new knowledge is great –

as it open more doors for

helping clients and growing

our businesses

My goal is to share some of this new

information and lift you up to give you a

new perspective and open up new

options for you

5 Reason Your Clients

Are Not Getting Results

#1 - A Food Is Not The Cause

Removing the foods is not the

same as resolving the cause

There is no such thing as an

inflammatory food

- The inflammation belongs to the

person

Here’s Why

Dysbiosis

Study #1

• 10 healthy adults were put on a GFD for

one month

• Colon bacteria was analyzed before and

after

• Good bacteria had decreased and bad

bacteria had a parallel increase

• Also suppressed immune

system function

Study #2

• Effect of dairy products on biomarkers of

inflammation –

• Meta-analysis of 7 randomized

controlled studies

• High consumption of dairy

lowered C-reactive protein,

Interleukin 6, TNF-alpha in

3 of the studies and showed

dairy was neutral in the other 4

#2 Probiotics Do Not Replenish

• You do not replenish good bacteria using

probiotics

• Only a person’s own native good bacteria

(residential) can colonize

• All probiotics are transient (even

those with human microflora)

The Truth Is

Why Is This Significant?

• We need other strategies to re-colonize our own

bacteria

• Our individual capacity to do this varies

• This fact is crucial to whether a person stays on

probiotics or not

• Also, research indicates that

specific strains play a role

in various conditions

Examples

• L reuteri, L casei and L gasseri help with calcium

absorption and increasing bone density

• L. plantarum and L. gasseri are associated with

weight loss

• L. acidophilus, L. casei,

B. longum and B. animalis

reduced lactose-intolerance

By understanding the strains and the

research connecting them to specific

conditions will help – we can help fill in

pieces of the puzzle to make better

choices

#3 Supplements Are Not Drugs

• Clients often expect a supplement to work like a

drug

• A supplement cannot perform like a drug

• Often multiple supplements are needed which

can frustrate clients

• A supplement needs help from the

gastrointestinal system especially for digestion

and for absorption of the key elements of the

supplements

• A comprehensive plan for the

gastrointestinal system is

essential to get the most

from supplements

#4 Client’s Mindset

• The capacity to heal belongs to the body

• But it is up to the client to activate the capacity

• The client has to be ready and willing to make

changes in order to activate the “healing”

• Recognizing this and

recognizing the mindset

of the client is critical to

helping the client attain

their goals

#5 No Platform For Healing

• A playing field that allows the protocol to work at

it’s best

• Each client will need a different platform

• The practitioners’ role is understanding how to

craft the platform for the client

# 1 Perspective

• The focus needs to be on the function of the body

and in particular, the gastrointestinal system in

order to create the platform

• Not the foods

• Not the lifestyle

• If something outside the

body has done damage

• (like a drug) –

the damage is done

• In order to correct, you

need to focus on how

body needs to function

• And construct the

platform for healing

based on this

What To Do

• Learn as much about clients past as you

can – go back as far as childhood

• Use this information to determine the

client’s individual capacity to the heal

• I highly recommend you develop your

counseling skills to help prepare the clients

What To Do

• Research the health issues and gut health

so that you know the connections

• Focus on creating a co-operative, relaxed

relationship with the client

• Pay attention to the clients mindset

• Go Slow – do not remove

foods unless absolutely necessary

Case Study

• Margaret, 54 year old, suffered from joint pain,

frequent heartburn, bloating and general

discomfort

• Tests and x-rays did not reveal any missing

cartilage

• MD offered her pain meds

• Recommended glucosamine and

MSM product

• At the same time we start looking

at creating her platform
