(5) Overseas Staff Exchange Possibilities

Current information on the present policies of large metropolitan public libraries in various parts of the world in receiving foreign librarians in temporary or permanent positions has recently been gathered by the INTAMEL Staff Exchange Secretary.

The following list indicates whether each large city public library does or does not at the present time hire or accept overseas-trained librarians, either on a long term or short term basis. Further informa- tion about conditions and terms of exchange or employment should be secured from each library. Of the 60 libraries from which information was received, 34 do receive foreign-trained librarians.

The number of posts is the total number of professional librarians in each institution.

Not all world metropolitan libraries replied to the survey, so that results do not include all countries.

As further information is received by INTAMEL, it will be reported to the members, in order to maintain exchange and overseas hiring possibility data up-to-date.
