Life offers numerous opportunities to learn. Some of those opportunities are burdened by challenges, others memorable experiences. Besides what we go through personally, we can also benefit from other people’s life experiences. Whether we learn from our own struggles, or from those of other people’s, we can either choose to make use of the lessons that come our way or ignore them as we navigate the lanes of life. 5 Habits for a Successful Life this year
by David Drake
Life offers numerous opportunities to learn. Some of those opportunities are burdened by challenges,
others memorable experiences. Besides what we go through personally, we can also benefit from
other people’s life experiences. Whether we learn from our own struggles, or from those of other
people’s, we can either choose to make use of the lessons that come our way or ignore them as we
navigate the lanes of life. My decision and attitude towards a healthy lifestyle has been to make the
most of the lessons that come my way. I am a product of learning, and today I want to share some five
important lessons with you to make you think deeply about work and success in 2016:
1. Save, you will need the cash when you retire
If you have goals and dreams, retirement provides you with the best opportunity to meet them, and
turn them into a reality.
Retirement is a topic that many people who are just starting their career don’t give much thought to.
Retirement is important for two main reasons: first, because it is about your life and second, because
the amount you save will significantly determine how you live life after retirement. If you have goals
and dreams, retirement provides you with the best opportunity to meet them, and turn them into a
reality. However, you can only succeed in doing this if you are prepared financially. If you reach the
age of retirement and you find yourself financially unprepared , you are likely to worry about the most
basic things, like where to live and what to eat, instead of thinking of the best time to go for a
vacation. Being in a situation where you cannot meet your basic needs will burden your children
financially. If you haven’t thought about retirement seriously, now is the perfect time to start.
2. Failing in one dream does not mean failing on everything else
Appreciate your failures so you can optimize the lessons that come with them.
Failing can be a horrible experience. Often, people tend to think that failing miserably on an important
venture, or dream, means that they will keep failing in all their other ventures. This is a misconception
that hinders people from tapping into the lessons that failure brings their way. As part of life, failure
offers more lessons than success. The failures that we encounter prepare us for future success. In
2016, instead of feeling like you are unable to accomplish much, appreciate your failures so you can
optimize the lessons that come with them.
3. Your attitude towards your work shapes the outcomes
Take a close look at your feelings and attitude that you have towards what you do because they
influence the outcomes you get.
How you feel and what you think about your work has a way of shaping the outcomes you get. This
means that if you are working on building a successful business venture but you hate what you do, and
your job depresses and exhausts you, you are likely to fail. Take a close look at your feelings and
attitude that you have towards what you do because they influence the outcomes you get. What is
ahead of you in life is related directly to your attitude and thoughts. This is why you need to change
your attitude and thoughts towards what you are doing and become happier, excited and positive with
what you are engaged in to get better results.
4. Make relationships a priority
As you grow your business or at your job, remember to work smart and appreciate your work as well
as the people in it.
The people in your life are the most important thing you have, and the relationships you have with
them is what matters over everything. It is important to put your personal relationships before your
work and hobbies each single day. Your friends are also an invaluable part of your life. Take care of
friendships because it gets easier to cast your friends to the side in the hustle and bustle of everyday
life. Make it a point to reach out to them and connect. Also, your colleagues at work are also important
relationships you need to work on. As you grow your business or at your job, remember to work smart
and appreciate your work as well as the people in it.
5. Take risks, they make you grow
Taking carefully calculated risk builds your endurance, toughens you up and allows you to grow.
Risk is inevitable if you are going to achieve your dreams, vision or make a positive impact in your
community. You are not going to be certain about everything in life; there will always be stuff that is
beyond your control. Therefore, you need to be able to endure a degree of uncertainty. Taking
carefully calculated risk builds your endurance, toughens you up and allows you to grow.
