The inaugural meeting, held on May 3rd at the BurnleyHorticultural Hall was an outstanding success with 280 fernlovers in attendance, than?s to the excellent publicity priorto the meeting.

The second meeting at the Herbarium Hall was attended by about
180 members desnite the fact that it was a wet Saturday niqht
during the may school holidays. President Chris Goudey talkedabout the history of ferns, and their grouping with examplesof many fronds WhiCh were passed amongst the members. Thesample of Chris's Silver Dollar Maidenhair drew many gases ofenvy, and spurred many into collecting maidenhairs alone.
The the June meeting Jan Maher, Channel 0 Gardening expert,gave a demonstration on the planting of fernsin baskets,terrariums and interesting units like mallee raots. Jan kindlygave away many horticultural aids, products and books.
