    External failures, what they call acts of God natural problems like bad weather or cityinfrastructure problems or power shortagesare hurting your business.

    Be very careful to keep your promises, especiallycommitments you have made to stick to certainprinciples in how you conduct your businessdealings and your personal life.

    Spend some time each day putting your mind,peacefully and in a concentrated way, on thelarger questions of life. Would you be doing rightnow what you are doing right now if you knew youwere going to die tonight?

    16.Over and over, when you get deep into a dealwith anybody, he or she seems to turn aroundand stab you in the back.

    To prevent this problem, try to feel empathy withanyone whos having a problem, even acompetitor. Stop taking pleasure, or even small,private feelings of satisfaction, in the misfortune ofothers.

    17.You think up a major project, design it downto the last detail, work hard to get it up andrunning, and then, it simply flops.

    This again is due to not understanding the waythat things really work. The key to success israther a state of mind, a state of understandingthe principles weve put forth here. Projects donewith this knowledge, (Diamond Cutter Principles),in this state of knowing, work. Period!

    18.People around you dont step forward to helpyou out when you need it most.

    This again is a result of taking some kind of

    any cause or logic.

    Once more, this kind of chaos is a result of achaotic intention, of wishing failure on others.Disorder on a global level, on a market level, on abusiness level (whether your own or your

    competitors), and on a personal level is justanother form of unhappiness for whomever is inthe mist of it-and we have to reach a point wherewe wish ill on no one.

    Corruption is a problem in your business; in itsregulation by government, in the waycompanies interact, in the way individualemployees behave

    Admire a job well done, no matter who does it,and refuse to give in to the base emotion of

    As your corporate career moves through theyears, you notice small health problemscropping up and steadily starting to become

    serious.

    Go through the company with a new eye: walkfrom corridor to corridor and peek in on eachdepartment. Try to locate any condition that mightbe impacting negatively on any employeeshealth. Your concern for the welfare of those

    around you in your firm has to reach a point whereits a natural part of your life-in order for your ownhealth to be affected.

    23.The market strategies that used to work foryou dont succeed anymore.

    This is nothing more complicated than some formof deceit, some kind of dishonesty in the way youmake your money.

    A small exaggeration to a potential customer inorder to nail down the first order; a small white lieto an existing customer about why their order islate; a bit of an adjustment on the balance sheet

    to the blank that floated your last project.

    Avoid this kind of small-change ethics, avoid eventhe slightest stretch of your integrity, and youllfind that your traditional business approachcontinues to work just fine.

    You find yourself feeling down more often,whether or not the business is doing well. Youstart to get little bouts of depression or self-doubt.

    Examine how you work with the people who workwith you. Do you encourage them to fudge a bit?Indulge in dishonest behavior? All confidence and

    joy occur when you support honesty and integrityin every sector of your firm.

    The people around you, whether fellowemployees or managers, customers orsuppliers, never believe what you have to say,even when you are telling the truth.

    The solution is to be strictly accurate in yourwords. Remember what lyingreally entails: givingsomeone else an impression of some object orevent which does not strictly correspond to theimpression that you yourself have of this samething.

    So complete honesty is what you say is nothingless than assuring the impressionwhich yourwords leave on someone else matches the veryimpression you have in your mind.

    Whenever you undertake any form ofcooperative effort be it a group project, apartnership for some business goal, or themerger of your company with another itdoesnt seem to work out.

    Always try to see to it that the way you describethings to other people gives them an exactimpressionof how you yourself see the thing-thisis, the result of your words should be that theother party always gets the exact sameunderstanding that you have about the particularobject or event.

    27.You work in an industry where people cheateach other a lot.

    Be completely straightforward in all your businessdealings yourself, and gradually, you will meetfewer and fewer people who would ever want tocheat you.

    28.Your boss often speaks to you in an insultingway.

    REFUSE to continue the cycle of violence. Theidea here is that you back off from the violence,even if the other side hasnt yet agreed to do sowhen you do. You refuse-once, twice, or even ahundred times (Turn your face and show themyour other cheek so they can hit that one too)-torespond to an insult with an insult, and in so doingyou remove those problems in your life.

    29.You find that the years in the business worldare taking an undesirable toll on yourpersonal appearance.

    You have to be extremely diligent in watching yourown mind for the slightest trace of anger towardanother person. If youre really going to be seriousabout this particular solution-you have to take onestep back from the anger and be careful to avoidanger assiduously, even before the causes for anincident of anger have had a chance to convene.

    30.Regardless of how well you do in your work,

    the people around you are always criticizingyou.

    The solution for this problem is to be verysensitive about paying attention to how youractions and words affect those around you. Thatis, before you say or do anything, considercarefully how it might impact on others in theworkplace.

    31.Projects you hand out to your subordinatesnever get done.

    This particular problem can be stopped by takingspecial care to facilitate the work of other peoplearound you in the company. For example, ifanother division needs a loan of several workersto get a project out that week, you give them uphappily-and dont send the dead heads, by theway, give them your best.

    32.The business projects you undertake aresmooth sailing at first, and then turn sour.

    Take time and care to show your sincere thanks,on a constant basis to those that support you. Themain thing is that you maintain, on a constantbasic, thoughts of gratitude-that you reallyappreciate, as you look down at your bowl ofcereal in the morning, that hundreds or thousandsof people have sacrificed those very preciousmoments of a brief human life to bring this food toyour table.

    You find yourself unable to take your wels-deserved rest; you have trouble relaxing, andnever really enjoy a vacation real leisure isbeyond you.

    Avoid talk which has no sense or point, whether itbe gossip or silly ideas or plans that you neverintend to act on anyway. The idea is to speakwhen there is a reason to speak, where there ispurpose or action to be fulfilled.

    40.

    You have a noticeable problem with timing.You get into the market big just before it drops;you get out of a market in the middle of a boomthat keeps going long after you pulled out yourmoney. Your new product always seems tocome out head to head with a competitorsrelease of a slightly better product. Yourcommitment to an order from a major supplierreaches him several days after his prices wentup.

    Again, the problem here is that kind of uselesstalk where you divert resources and people andminds to plans that-if you think about for a minute-you never really intend to carry through on. Makevery sure then you do what you say youre goingto do, and speak no of something you have noreal intention of accomplishing.

    41.No one listens when you ask him or her to dosomething.

    Same as 37 Consistently talking about thingsthat have no real importance.

    42.People in your company seem to fight eachother a lot.

    Stop saying things, in either a malicious or agossipy way, which will draw other people fartherapart from one another. To counter this, go out ofyour way to bring other people together, whereverand whenever you can, and even in a very minorways-all day long.

    You live in a business and social climate whereintegrity is simply not respected; where onlyfools are strictly ethical every hour of theirbusiness daywhere Nice guys finish last.

    Dont look outside your industry to try to findanother thats more honest; train yourself strictlyin integrity itself, in the forceful logic behindintegrity, and then just sit back and enjoy thechange in your own industry as it happens.

    You find yourself losing your touch forbusiness; nuts seem harder to crack now, youhave trouble keeping up with the changesaround you, you seem slower than you used to

    be when you grapple with complex businesschallenges.

    It is essential to understand that, in terms ofcontent, a positive result (business and personalsuccess) cannot come from a negative cause(such as hurting or cheating someone else).
