The Press-fit Jointing SystemWith our unique "Leak Before Press" designfor instant identification of incomplete joints

Following a long tradition of developing new and innovative jointingsolutions that meet the changing needs of specifers and installers

Yorkshire Fittings have enhanced the XPress Copper range with theaddition of a unique leak before press (LBP) design.

Why would you want a fitting that leaks?LBP has been developed as a fail-safe check to provide instant identificationof joints that have been assembled correctly but mistakenly left un-pressed.Contractors and commissioning engineers can be assured that un-crimpedXPress copper fittings will leak, even at test pressures as low as 0.5 bar, andare therefore easily detectable. This method of incomplete joint detectioncan save a considerable amount of time in the commissioning process, and prevent any potential returns to site after project hand-over.

Maintaining a policy of continual product development, Pegler Yorkshire reserve the right to change specifications, design and materials of products listed on this leaflet without prior notice.

Product design changesThe concept of our leak before pressdesign is simple; we have modified theends of the XPress Copper fittingmaking the mouth of the fittingslightly triangular. When the fitting is

assembled with tube the triangulatedend gives 3 leak paths (see diagram). These leak paths are then closed whenthe press tool is used to press the

joint, making the fitting end circularand leaving a strong, reliable joint.

Advantages of the XPress CopperPress-fit system Fittings available in sizes

15mm to 108mm Significant installed cost savings

Heat-free jointing process meaningno need for expensive hot workspermits

Clean jointing technique with noflux residue

WRAS and DVGW approved with30 year system guarantee

    Pressing Joints

When the system has been fullydrained return to the un-pressed

fitting, check that the pipeworkhas not moved in testing, ensuring thatthe copper tube is fully inserted up to thetube stop. Then complete the pressingprocess as normal.

    Finished Joints

When the joint is completedcorectly it is identical to the

previous non LBP XPress Copperfitting, a strong reliable joint.

    System Testing

Any un-crimped fittings in thesystem will be immediately

identified by a leak on testing. Makenote of the fitting's location and continue tocheck the rest of the system.

    Preparation and Installation

Due to the simplicity of our LBPdesign there are no additional

preparation or installation stepsrequired. Just follow the standardprocedure for XPress products found in theXPress Databook, available for download fromwww.pegleryorkshire.co.uk

The subtle triangulation at themouth of the fitting can at first

glance be mistaken as deformity, butunder closer examination it can be seen tohave a uniform and precise geometric shape.
