PAIN MANAGEMENTUNMET NEEDS IN ACUTE PAIN
SECOND JOINT MENARINI INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION/EULAP SYMPOSIUM
The fi rst edition of this scientifi c event has been – everybody agreed – an overwhelming success. Over 400 delegates were already pre-registered, but by the date of the Opening Ceremony in Budapest (13th of October 2016) the number exceeded 500 attendants, willing to enjoy the extremely high level scientifi c discussion on Pain Medicine, held during the three days of the Symposium.
This was the main reason why we decided to organize a second edition, this time in Barcelona. It will be a fantastic occasion to discuss one of the most interesting aspects of pain medicine, i.e. Acute Pain. This event will be a very interesting one and will certainly shed light on the current management of acute pain, highlighting the unmet needs still present in the third millennium.
As customary, the Faculty will gather topfl ight experts in the fi eld. In particular, the opening lecture, devoted to the one of the great dilemmas of pain mechanisms, Bioethics in Acute Pain, will be delivered by Professor Jaime Boceta, universally considered the world number one in this topic. The current knowledge about acute pain will be then presented by outstanding speakers, who will give the background to focus on post-operative pain, the most frequent problems in pain medicine. Established and new therapeutic approaches, from the multi-modal analgesia to the “futuristic” therapeutic approaches like the “fast-track analgesia” or the “procedure-specifi c analgesia”, will complete the picture.
We do hope to see you all in Barcelona, but also expect that you will become addicted to the high scientifi c level of these events. Your enthusiastic attendance will guarantee a large diffusion of the knowledge delivered at the Symposium and represent the best reword for the organizers. Our common efforts will certainly contribute to relieve suffering and induce wellbeing of the many pain patients worldwide.
