Join us for the 40th Annual International IVAS and 15th Annual ItVAS Congress on Veterinary Acupuncture at the Auditorium Sant’ Apollonia in the beautiful city of Florence (Firenze) [fiˈrɛntse], Italy.
A city-size shrine to the Renaissance, Florence offers frescoes, sculptures, churches, palaces, and other monuments from the richest
cultural flowering the world has known. Names from its dazzling historical past—Dante, Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli—are some of the most resonant of the medieval age.
The IVAS/ItVAS Program Committee has put together a range of important topics with an impressive list of speakers and wetlabs. This year's General Theme is:
Connective Tissue
A special event has been added this year showcasing the Poster Presenters which will allow for a more individualized question and answer session. Thursday evening we will travel to the Fattoria Sant'Appiano for Poster Presentations and wine tasting featuring local Tuscany food. There is a small additional fee for this event, which includes bus fare.
The current Italian flag consists of three equal vertical bands of color – green, white, and red – with the green being the one on the hoist side. This kind of flag is known as a “tricolor” design, the same kind of design the French flag and Irish flag have. In Italian the flag is known as Il Tricolore (tree|koh|LOHR|eh) because of this, in much the same way that the American flag is commonly known as the “stars and stripes.” The modern flag of Italy wasn’t made the country’s official flag until 1948, but the three colors in the flag have been in use since the late 1700s representing the various city-states and kingdoms that made up the country we know as Italy today.
Italy became a nation-state in 1861 when the city-states of the peninsula, along with Sardinia and Sicily, were united under King Victor Emmanuel II. An era of parliamentary government came to a close in the early 1920s when Benito Mussolini established a Fascist dictatorship. His disastrous alliance with Nazi Germany led to Italy's defeat in World War II. A democratic republic replaced the monarchy in 1946 and economic revival followed. Italy was a charter member of NATO and the European Economic Community (EEC). It has been at the forefront of European economic and political unification, joining the Economic and Monetary Union in 1999.
