WelcomeCongress Registration is open!!
This years 46th annual Congress goes ONLINE taking on a brand new format for IVAS. We are very excited to present this Congress jointly with the College of Integrative Veterinary Therapies (CIVT). This is a great opportunity for many more of our members that, for a variety of reasons are not able to attend a Congress in person.
Speakers will be presenting live over 3 weekends.
First weekend – August 29-30, 2020Second Weekend – September 12-13, 2020
Last weekend – September 19-20, 2020
The presentations will also be recorded and will be available for viewing through the online Congress platform through March 1, 2021.
There will be 16 hours of presentations and 16 IVAS CE. The program Committee did a great job selecting a range of topics, there is something available for everyone. No need to choose between two topics that interest you. You will be able to see them all right from the comfort of your home or office at any time it is convenient for you, that is of course if you are not able to join the speaker live on the date and time they will be presenting.
This year there is no reason not to attend the Congress! It is affordable, no need to travel, plan, or the expenses that go along with it. You can stay safe, and no time away from your practice or patients. The Congress is available in the full 16 hour package only, and the early rate for IVAS or CIVT members is US$195.00 for 6 months of access.
Inside the Congress Brochure you will find each of our Speakers with their bio, the topic of their presentation, abstract and the date and time they will present. You can click on the time they will be presenting live in their part of the world and check when it will air live in your part of the world. We will also be presenting an online Exhibition Hall. As a Congress attendee we are offering you something new this year “Passport Around the World”. Check out how it will work inside the brochure.
The part that so many of us are going to miss is seeing everyone in person, this can never be replaced. People are social, and this virus has impacted us all in some way, big or small. Sitting and chatting with friends and colleagues, traveling to amazing places and just the human touch, a hug or a handshake is now considered “do not do” and this is what makes the “IVAS Family” so special… that connection on so many levels.
I shall miss seeing you all this year, and hope that you will join me online and make this first online Congress successful! I wish you all health and happiness.
Debbie Prevratil

Sue was a science scholar at Oxford University before qualifying as a vet at Bristol in 1983. After many years in equine practice she studied acupuncture with the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society in her quest to relieve horses of pain that did not respond to rest and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, becoming a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist in 2001. In 2002 she established her equine acupuncture practice and added chiropractic in 2011; she is now an instructor for the International Academy of Veterinary Chiropractic. Sue’s work on
treating trigeminal-mediated headshaking with electroacupuncture was published in Equine Veterinary Education in 2019 and she is the author of The Veterinary Care of the Horse. Sue’s enthusiasm for treating horses with acupuncture and embracing new ideas remains undiminished after 20 years of practising acupuncture.

Cynthia Lankenau, DVM graduated from Cornell’s Veterinary College in 1981 and joined a 99% dairy practice in upstate NY with a total love of working with small dairy farms. In the attempt to expand her practice knowledge, she joined the Peace Corps and worked in Malawi, Africa in 1984-1985, returning to the US to join a mixed animal practice in western NY. With the decline of family farms in NY, and seeing an incredible increase in chronic diseases, Dr. Lankenau
started down the path of alternative medicine; starting with acupuncture training in 1991 (IVAS), started herbal training in western herbs in 1993, Chinese herbs in 1995; chiropractic (AVCA) and homeopathic (AVH) training in 1995. She has completed Chi’s MS (TCVM); CIVT’s Western Graduate Herbal program, and Chinese herbal degree; is a registered herbalist (RH) through the American Herbal Guild, and is currently finishing David Winston’s professional herbal training and additional Chinese Herbal training with Dr. Evan Rabinowitz. She attends as many Jeffrey Yuen seminars as possible. She is a past president of the VBMA, Secretary/treasurer of the ACVBM, founder of the NY CAVMA, and on the board of WATCVM. Since 1993, she has practiced in a solo 100% alternative modality mixed animal practice.

Katja Görts decided to become either a veterinarian or a farmer – at the age of four. Consequently, she went to Veterinary school in Hannover, Germany. She made first contact with holistic veterinary medicine during her first years in Veterinary school when she happened to volunteer in a practice that specialized
in ear-acupuncture and homeopathy. Also, encouraged by some of her professors, she already started teaching undergraduate veterinary and biology students while still studying herself.
After graduation in 1999 she began working in the human pharmaceutical industry in different positions, such as Key Account Manager, Training Manager, and Medical Marketing Manager for almost ten years. Teaching, with a focus on Neurology and Ophthalmology, was a major part of her job.
