Background & Critical NeedEvery year in the U.S., approximately 25,000 young people age out of foster care alone. A young person who ages out of care does so without the thing they were promised when they entered foster care – a permanent parent to support and guide them through life.

Research indicates that youth who age out of foster care alone are more likely to experience homelessness, unemployment, unplanned pregnancy, legal system involvement, and substance abuse. They are also less likely to have a high school diploma, earn enough to support themselves, or participate in post-secondary education.

Our Mission & VisionYou Gotta Believe (YGB) is one of the precious few organizations in the U.S. that focus on finding permanent families for young adults and teens before they age out of the foster care system and run the extremely high risk of becoming homeless or worse.

YGB works with waiting youth until we find them a permanent loving family to help them negotiate life. We know that connecting youth to loving families that can provide lifetimes of support and guidance is the best way to help them meet their needs and to transform their life trajectories. By finding youth permanent families, YGB dramatically reduces their need for support services and systems throughout their lives.
