General purpose beige masking tapes won’t produce a professional result

for every job. In order to get the perfect finish you have to consider the job in

hand, ensuring you’re using the right tape.

Factors that influence which is the correct tape include;

The type of surface being masked:The type of surface being masked is one of the most important factors in selecting

a tape. Scotch masking tapes are identified by the following primary uses:

• Multi-surfaces: medium adhesion level for most painted or finished surfaces

• Delicate surfaces: low adhesion for wallpaper or 24 hours old fresh paint

• Hard-to-stick surfaces: high adhesion for rough, non-damageable surfaces

How long will the tape stay on the surface?Consider the number of days needed to complete the job. For larger, more

extensive jobs, it helps to use a tape that can be left up for longer periods of

time yet remove cleanly.

What are the environmental conditions?Environmental factors should also be considered. The Scotch masking tapes
