Christmas Carnival Program and Information Guide

Entries:

• $25.00 per Competitor

• $50.00 per Team for R&R

• $50.00 per March Past Team (additional $20 for competitors who enter other events)

• $75.00 per Boat Crew and are to be entered as a separate event.

Clubs are to submit entries online using the “Carnival Manager System” at https://carnival.sls.com.au/

Sydney Branch will invoice all clubs after the carnival for payment, no payments accepted on the day ALL CARNIVAL ENTRIES CLOSE ON WEDNESDAY 11 DECEMBER 2019 AT 11PM Late Entries: Late entries on the day are: $30.00 per Individual Competitor $60 per R&R team or March Past Team

$100 per Boat Crew (if accepted by the Carnival Referee – draw depending).

LATE ENTRY FEES ARE TO BE PAID AT TIME OF ENTRY Any late entries will require a letter from their Surf Club stating that:

ALL competitors are proficient & financial members of that Surf Club.

General Supplementary Carnival Rules Competition shall be conducted as per the current edition SLSA Surf Sports Manual except where detailed in

this section.

All competitors must have their age group clearly marked on their upper left arm. All competitors are to register on the day of the carnival prior to competing. All competitors and handlers must wear pink fluorescent coloured singlets as their outer layer of clothing when

entering the water.

Most events will be conducted in “block” (i.e. heats where required). Finals intermixed (male & female) for adequate rest . At carnival referee’s discret ion. Courses for all events, may vary at the discretion of the Carnival Referee in consultation with the Competition

Committee.

Primarily considering all safety issues ‐ field sizes for events may exceed the recommended numbers outlined in

the current SLSA Surf Sports Manual at the discretion of the Carnival Referee to allow for the efficient completion

of the carnival program.

Supplementary Rules: AGE GROUPS

• U19 / Open is one combined age group for this Carnival.

CAMERON & TAPLIN RELAYs (mixed gender event if required)

• At a minimum every team MUST have a SWIMMER & BOARD paddler. (Cameron)

• A 2-person team – will have both SWIMMER & BOARD paddler do the RUN legs. (Cameron)

• A 3- person team – will have 1 RUNNER, to tag both the SWIMMER & BOARD paddler. (Cameron)

• A 4-person team – will have 2 RUNNERS: 1 to tag the SWIMMER; the OTHER to TAG the BOARD paddler.

• The order of the legs of the Cameron relay event will be swim, run, board, run. Can be mixed gender teams. o To encourage participation & more events for ALL competitors –

➢ Cameron teams can be 2-person; 3-person or 4-person.

• TAPLIN: as per normal program – 1 swimmer, 1 board paddler, 1 ski paddler. Must be a 3-person team.

ALL AGE BOARD RELAY (combined gender event 4-person team)

• Mix teams allowed.

• 4-person Board relay event with each team member paddling one leg each. o Each team should consist of:

➢ 1 x U15, 1 x u17, 2 x U19/OPEN.

• The U15 competitors must commerce the event after which the order of competitors for 17s, 19s / Opens is at discretion of the team.

ALL AGE BEACH RELAY (combined gender event 4-person team)

• 4-person relay event with each team member running one leg each. o Each team should consist of at least:

➢ 1 x U15, 1 X u17, 2 x U19 / OPEN.

Order of scheduled events listed below – is at the carnival referee & competition committee’s discretion on

the day. This allows for conditions & other factors.

Entry numbers will determine if ALL events listed are either run or run in the scheduled order.; or combined

with other events – to allow for maximum participation
