To expose students to the relevant knowledge and skills about basic biotechnology in order to enable
them to apply the knowledge in teaching and learning in school.

SYNO"SIS:
This course discusses: Introduction,definition of mendelian genetics and current issues. *endelian
inheritance,law of segregation, law of independence assortment, modification of mendelian genetics.
Application of molecular genetics to genetics engineering, introduction to +A, tools for genetics
engineering, recombinant +A. -asic fermentation, preparation of inoculum and media, steriliation,
mode of fermentation, basic microbial kinetics in batch study. -asic tissue culture, explants stem cells,
media, aseptic techni/ues, hormone, inoculation, culture, incubation. Application of biotechnology,
agriculture, environment, health, food, industries.0thics and current issues in biotechnology.
