Are you looking for a way to receive YEAR ROUND robust advertising, WHILE enriching programs and materials at Daves Ave Elementary? Well, look no further as we have you covered with our ANNUAL COMMUNITY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM! With this program at Daves, you donate ONCE, and receive advertising though out the school year at Home & School Club events. Not only that, but your contribution is fully tax deductible and will enhance educational opportunities at Daves. With four different levels to choose from - there is a little something for everyone!

We are currently looking for participants in our 2016-17 Annual Community Sponsorship Program (ACSP). For more information, please contact Nicole Reginelli or Bryce Wend, ACSP Chairs.

2016-2017 Open Chair Positions! We are still looking for a few people to step up and help chair or co-chair events/groups next year. If you are interested in getting more involved or would like more information about any of the following positions, please contact, Carolyn Harnish.

The Wednesday Wave Co-Editor Our school's main source of communication is the Wednesday Wave. The Wave editor collects, edits and lays out the content which is produced in Pages (Mac environment). The editor should have some experience with graphics, layout and basic editing. Each edition takes 3-5 hours to produce, spread over a few days. The newsletter is produced weekly but responsibilities are shared between two co-editors. It's a fun job and great way to be connected to all the happenings at Daves! Cool Cat Auction Our annual spring fundraiser for adults only. Starting in late fall with a kick-off meeting, it will really ramp up right after the Holiday Break. With a solid team of volunteers (many already in place), you can make this fundraiser a huge success! This involves all aspects of a big event – marketing, auction solicitation and management, volunteer recruitment, venue procurement, food selection, decorating… Lots of time involved on this one – but a very fun event to plan! Bingo Night Bingo Night will happen once a year. Based upon other scheduled annual events, we recommend early-mid February or early Spring as an ideal time. Responsibilities include: MCing the event, logistics/facilities planning, marketing (flyers, H&SC site, Wednesday Wave, Volunteer Spot, signage), determining food offerings/pricing, recruiting volunteers and collecting prize donations. This is a fun event to plan, so grab a friend or two and co-chair the event together.

Safe Routes To School Announcement

Recently, Daves Avenue Elementary School has had a number of complaints about the children riding their bikes dangerously around the school.

Some of the recent complaints that have been received are: bike riders weaving in and out of traffic, riding in the middle of the road, riding on the wrong side of the road, jumping on and off the curbs/sidewalks, riding on school grounds, and riding across pedestrian crosswalks.

Children should be riding their bikes and scooters on the side of the road with traffic, not against traffic. Please remind children to walk their bikes when using pedestrian crosswalks, such as: the pedestrian crosswalk from the Baptist Church to the school, across Poppy Avenue, and across Daves Ave at the traffic signal.

Thank you for taking the time to discuss these very important Safety Rules with your children.

Share Your Ideas On Traffic Around School

The Town, the Los Gatos Union Elementary School District, the Los Gatos –Saratoga Joint Union High School District, and Hillbrook School have partnered to improve traffic around local schools. The project is looking at ways of creating Safe Routes to School, to help alleviate vehicle traffic congestion, and to manage parking. Join the team for an opportunity to provide your input.

A drop in open house style meeting will be held as follows:

May 17 - from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Daves Ave Multi Purpose Room

At the meeting you will see Walk and Roll Maps, recommended infrastructure improvements, and other ideas to help improve traffic and safety.

Don’t miss this chance to provide input!
