The December 26, 2004 tsunami left a deep scar in Phuket,

Thailand’s most popular beach destination. Caused by the 2004

Indian Ocean earthquake, the killer waves destroyed several highly

populated areas in Phuket, killing more than 5,300 people across

Thailand.

However, following strenuous recovery programs, in today’s

Phuket, there are no remaining signs of the devastation that the

tsunami caused. In fact, according to Thai Market Research firm,

Phuket 8 years later

C9 Hotelworks, by 2014, it is forecasted that there may potentially

be more than 5,665,593 million visitors to the island.

In this issue, we take a closer look at Phuket and the resorts to

stay at on your trip to the island.
