SUB-THEME/2: GODLY LEADERSHIP.
TOPIC: Ungodly Leadership:The Remedy.
TEXT: Jer.51:20-33.
AIMS: To
i. show that Christians can be God’s solution to checkmate
ungodly leadership, and
ii. find out how Christians should seek solution to ungodly leadership.
INTRODUCTION:
In our last study, we saw that Christians have a critical role to play
in curbing ungodliness in leadership. This study offers more on the
cure for ungodliness. But let it be said now that God has no better
instruments for eradicating ungodly leadership other than partnering
with Christians. We are the remedy especially if we become what He
expects of us and do what He commands us to do.
STUDY GUIDE
1. What do you recommend as the ‘remedy for ungodly
leadership’?
2a. Who doesGod use to remedy ungodliness in
leadership(use angels, humans, Christians, stones or
what)? 2 Kings 12:2; 2 Chron.34:3; Jer.51:20-23;
Matt.5:13.
b. What attitudes or attributes must Christians possess to
be so used by God? Isa.41:15; 49:2.
3. How may Christians be used by God in this regard? 1
Kings 21:17-21; Eccl.7:5; Isa.2:4; Ezek.3:17; 1
Tim.5:20.
4. How well has the Church served as God’s remedy to
ungodly leadership in our society? Cf. Isa.59:16; Jer.5:1;
Ezek.22:23-31.
CONCLUSION:
Committed Christians who seek to please God at all costs have been
His remedy for ungodliness over the centuries. Though they may pay
for it dearly, His purpose should be uppermost in their hearts for a
speedy remedy to ungodliness. Seek to be among them!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Ungodly leadership is overcome
when
true Christians without bias, stand up to set the pace for others to
follow.

DIOCESAN ANTHEM.
1. Lagos Diocese, premier Diocese,
Of Anglican Communion;
We are primus inter pares,
First among equals, bless’d one.
Tenth December, nineteen, nineteen
Praise the Lord! He’s done great things,
Lagos Diocese, foremost Diocese,
Came to be, through love and peace.
2. Our Divine Mandate of five-fold,
Clear and apt, to build the Church;
From above came like that of old,
For the mission of the Church,
Priestly, Pastoral, Prophetic,
Pray’r and Praise to reach a peak.
Help, O Lord Thy charge to fulfil,
Thy perfect will to do still.
3. God our Father, bless our Diocese,
Bless our Bishop, we pray Thee,
Bless Thy people of this Diocese,
Our existence, keep for Thee,
All believers to edify,
And Thy name to glorify,
Multiply Disciples for Thee,
And at last to reign with Thee. Amen.
These women were ministering to them out
of their own means. Luke 8:3.
Ministering is the term used for the Christian
Service given to other members and the society.
Ministering is learning of and attending to others’
need. It is doing God’s work as Jesus Christ
instructed us, representing Him and acting as His
agents to watch over, lift and strengthen those
around us.
Effective ministering must be highly
individualized and led by the spirit. The Idea
behind ministering is serving. The scripture tells
us of Joanna, the wife of Chuza and other women
ministering to the ministry of Jesus and the
apostles from their substances. Luke 8:3. Jesus
said, whatever you do for any of this, you do it to
me. Matt. 25:40. Again He tells us in Matt 10:42,
that even a cup of water, we give to anyone, for
His sake, there is a reward. The Samaritan was
commended and called good man as a result of
the help he rendered to the man who needed it.
Luke 6:25-37.
Dorcas ministered to the needs of the widows and
was counted as her righteousness. Acts 9:36-42.
Beloved we have a lot of people with various
needs, the poor, the orphans, the widows, the
needy, the homeless, the helpless etc. Let us
minister to them from our substances whatever we
do to them, let us offer help to them for Christ’s
sake. Knowing fully well that our labor is not in
vain because we have done it for the sake of
Christ.
Ministering for His Name’s Sake therefore
become an essential part of our lives as Christian
and must be attended no matter what comes our
way. Looking unto Jesus, the author and the
finisher of our faith who alone can strengthen us
to Minister even in the midst of persecution.
We have no power or ability of our own to do that
which Jesus commanded us to do; we must
depend solely on God and the Holy Spirit to
make our ministering acceptable to the Lord.
May the grace of God be made available to us in
Jesus Name.
Wishing you a fruitful and blessed week in Jesus
name. Amen.
