Thank You – Sacrament of Confirmation Last Thursday, 13th of September, 71 children and 3 young adults of our Parish celebrated with Bp Joseph Oudeman the Sacrament of Confirmation. I thank the par-ents and Maria Blancia (the Sacramental Coordinator) for preparing the children for this significant step in their faith journey. Having worked with their children since the end of July, the parents have done a great job and I thank them for their dedication in preparing the children for our Thursday celebration. I have no doubt that through Confirmation the faith of our young parishioners will grow and come to its fruition in their adult lives. Last Thursday’s event wouldn’t happen without a great deal of effort and or-ganisation. Many parishioners, through music, (Mick and Sharon Walsh) commentator (Candy Guillon and Sally Rigby) readings (Sr Liz and Lance Marsh), altar servers, photographers (Janelle from JTC Photo, Abas Supeli and

Precilla Trosic) and for the food preparation/catering

(Sabina Sannan), have generously contributed to the great spiritual and social outcome of the Thursday celebration. Today, I say a big thank you to all of them for making the Thursday celebration a prayerful and memorable experience of faith for children, their parents, families and visitors. Fr Jan

Parishioners who would like to sing at midnight Mass at Guardian Angels church please contact Audrey on this email address [email protected]. Practices will commence in November. PROCESSIONAL HYMN

Christ Be Our Light

Longing for light, we wait in darkness. Longing for truth, we turn to you. Make us your own, your holy people, light for the world to see.

Refrain: Christ, be our light! Shine in our hearts. Shine through the darkness. Christ, be our light! Shine in your church gathered today. Longing for peace, our world is troubled. Longing for hope, many despair. Your word alone has pow’r to save us. Make us your living voice. R Copyright 1993, Bernadette Farrell, OCP Publications

will you let my name be known? Will you let my life be grown in you and you in me?

Will you leave yourself behind if I but call your name? Will you care for cruel and kind and never be the same? Will you risk the hostile stare should your life attract or scare? Will you let me answer pray’r in you and you in me? © 1949 John L. Bell Willow Connection

MEMORIAL ACCLAMATION (ICEL)

When we eat this Bread and drink Cup, we proclaim your Death, O Lord, until you come again.

COMMUNION PROCESSION

Our Supper Invitation

Take of my bread and eat, drink my new wine.

Take of my life and live, branch of my vine. Let me befriend you now; eat, take your fill. Don’t be afraid to dream; love has its will. Take up your burden now, walk ‘til you find just what the journey means; walk while there’s time. Food for the journey will answer your need. Don’t be afraid to walk; love, my love will lead. Take of my bread and eat, drink my new wine. Be a sweet nourishment to good friends of mine. Let me befriend you now; eat, take your fill. Share with your people, that love has its will. Take of my bread and eat, drink my new wine.

REFLECTION HYMN

I Found the Treasure

Lord, to whom can I go? You alone speak the words of life. You alone on the earth or in heaven

above are my Saviour and my Lord.

Refrain: I found the treasure in a field,

that neither time nor death can steal.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM I will walk before the Lord in the land of the living

I will sell what I have, give all that I am, to hold this treasure as my own. Jesus, Lord of my life, I can ask for nothing more than to see and believe that my life lies in you, in the kingdom of my Lord. © 1985, Daniel L. Schutte. Published by OCP. All rights reserved

RECESSIONAL HYMN

Though the Mountains May Fall Refrain: Though the mountains may fall and the hills turn to dust,

yet the love of the Lord will stand as a shelter for all who will call on his name. Sing the praise and the glory of God. Could the Lord ever leave you? Could the Lord forget his love? Though a mother forget her child, he will not abandon you. R Should you turn and forsake him, he will gently call your name. Should you wander away from him? he will always take you back. Plenary Council 2020 Prayer

Come, Holy Spirit of Pentecost.

Come, Holy Spirit of the great South Land.

O God, bless and unite all your people in

Australia/and guide us on the pilgrim way

of the Plenary Council.

Give us the grace to see your face in

one another/and to recognize Jesus, our

companion on the road.

Give us the courage to tell our stories/ and

to speak boldly of your truth.

Give us ears to listen humbly to each

other/and a discerning heart to hear

what you are saying.

Lead your Church into a hope - filled

future/that we may live the joy of the

Gospel.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord/bread for

the journey from age to age. Amen

Our Lady Help of Christians,

pray for us.

St Mary MacKillop, pray for us.

Nicene Creed

I believe in one God, the Father almighty,

maker of heaven and earth,

of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God,

born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light,

true God from true God, begotten, not made,

consubstantial with the Father; through him all things were made.

For us men and for our salvation he came down from heaven,

and by the Holy Spirit

was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and became man.

For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with

the Scriptures.

He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.

He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his

kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the

Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,

who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.

I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of

the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
