23 feb 2014: "how to be a star" (phil. 2:14-18)
TRANSCRIPT
by following the example of Jesus, we can successfully live the Christian life. It is Jesus we are to follow; it is His actions we are to emulate.
It is on the cross that the true nature of God is revealed: God is love.
JESUS was humble, obedient, & loving. He didn’t ask for people to serve Him but He came to serve.
We are to do likewise.
Philippians 2:14 -18
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure children of God without fault in a wicked and crooked generation. Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky
16 as you hold firmly to the Word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labour in vain.
17 But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.
18 So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.
social studies have shown that because families have become smaller, parents tend to bend to the
demands of their children.
Recognize that complaining is a sin.
Exodus 14: 14-11 “They said to Moses, “Was it because there were no graves in Egypt that you brought us to the desert to die??”
Numbers 20:5 “Why did you bring us up out of Egypt to this terrible place? It has no grain or figs, grape vines or pomegranates. And there is no water
to drink! The food is detestable”
James 5:9,"Do not complain, brethren, against one another so that you yourselves may not be judged; behold, the Judge is standing right at the door."
Philippians 17-18 “But even if I am being poured out like a drink
offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you. So you too should be glad and rejoice with me.”
2 Tim 4: 6-‐8. “For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the Dme for my departure is near. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the
Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day -‐ and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.”
