Newsletter 20th December 2019

‘Together we are stronger. Together we achieve’ Dear Families,

I wanted to share this message with you – something Miss Burrell found on social media and I’ve adapted it for us because it is exactly what we’d like you to know:

We know that at this time of year there is a pressure to create what you think will be the perfect magical Christmas. We know that you want to give your children the best gifts and sometimes that means a bit of stress for you but we want you to know something very important: Every January when the children come back to school they tell us all about the Christmas holidays. They tell us about the time you stayed in to watch your favourite films on the TV wearing your PJs and snuggled in blankets. They tell us about the walk to Vicar Water to see the frost and icy puddles or splashing in the mud in their wellies. They tell us about staying with relatives when you have to go out somewhere and being excited for you to return. They may mention their gifts but for them Christmas is you and your love and time and routines and feeling safe. You are their favourite thing!

It has been an absolute pleasure to welcome so many of you into our Academy over this Festive season. A massive thank you to every member of staff who makes our Academy the safe and happy place it is for your children to learn.

Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year to you all,

Mrs Sarah Kahler, Acting Principal

Attendance

Please could you telephone the Academy by 9am if your child is going to be absent. Thank you

Congratulations to Y5 Said for achieving the highest attendance!!

The whole Academy attendance currently stands at 95.22%.

Please be reminded that our attendance policy has changed. A letter was

issued before in October to confirm that we can now issue a penalty

notice for persistent lates as well as absences.

The attendance motto in our Academy is to ‘give it our best shot!’ Even if

children are feeling under the weather, they will come to school and if

necessary we will send the children home. Please note that we have

trained first aiders on site at all times, therefore your children are in safe

hands.

Message From Senior Principal

What a wonderful time of year this is in school - the corridors and classrooms are full of excitement, laughter and glitter!! We have seen the acting and singing skills of all the pupils come to light through their plays, carol services and various events. It has been a pleasure to see them all take part in celebrating the wonders of this special time.

The planning for next term is in full swing and the teachers spent time together last night discussing the English texts they will be cov-ering in January. I am sure the children will return to school feeling fully refreshed and ready to take on the new challenges of 2020! Thank you so much to all the teachers, pupils and families who work tirelessly everyday to ensue our children receive the very best education available to them.

I hope you all get chance to spend time with your loved ones during the holidays and make some special memories to treasure.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Mrs Spacey (Senior Principal)

commented 'Wow we have some fantastic people

around us' The school council are very grateful for

everyone's support and the children are so proud of

themselves. The picture below is not even half of

Christingle

A big thank you to Pete Edwards, Lay Minister at All Saints Church for accommodating

KS1 and KS2 children with a beautiful Christingle service. F2 didn't miss out either, they

had their own Christingle service in their classroom.

Santa Visit

We had a very special visitor in school this week! Santa popped in to deliver every child a special present that needs to stay wrapped under their trees so Rudolf can find his way on Christmas Eve! Santa also encouraged the children to get to bed early and thanked the teachers for all their hard work too. A great morning which was filled with awe and wonder - children’s faces were amazing and Santa commented that the children were a credit to the Academy as he left.

Visit From Pete Edwards

It was lovely to be joined by Pete Edwards, Lay Minister at All Saints Church, Clipstone who popped in to visit each class and wish them a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year. We have enjoyed our visits to the Church and from Pete and we look forward to developing our links with All Saints further in 2020
