    Auxiliary Views Part 2

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 2

    Partial Auxiliary View

When only the feature of interest is drawn in an auxiliary view and not the whole object , the view is called a partial auxiliary view

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 3

    Partial Auxiliary View

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 4

    Half Auxiliary View

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 5

    Application of AVs

    1- Reverse Construction

2- True Length of a Lines

    3-Point View of a Line

    4-Edge View of a Plane

    5-True Size of a Plane

Applications can be grouped in five area:

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 6

Reverse ConstructionWhen auxiliary views is required before creating a pictorial view

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 7

    Dihedral Angles

Dihedral Angle is the angle between two planes

To draw and measure the angle between two planes, create a point view of the line of intersection between two planes

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 8

Successive Auxiliary View (True size of oblique surfaces)

  • Fall2005- ENGR 3200U 9

    True Size of Oblique Surfaces

First construct a new view from one of the principle views , parallel to a true length (The oblique surface is an edge in this view)

Secondary AV is then created perpendicular to projectors from the edge view of the oblique surface (True size and shape of the surface)
