Garbage & Recycling Collection
All homes are required to participate in the
garbage and recycling program. Services are
billed as a special charge on the annual property
tax bill.
Garbage and recyclables will be collected each
Thursday, with adjustments for holiday weeks.
(Please refer to the calendar on the reverse.)
Items for collection must be placed curbside by
7:00 a.m. Allow 3 feet of space around your
carts for the truck’s lift arm. Do not place your
garbage or recyclables near your mailbox, allow-
ing room for your mail carrier.
Be sure to remove emptied carts from the curb in
a timely manner.
Wheeled carts are provided by the contractor.
Broken wheels or lids, or damage due to normal
wear and tear should be reported to the Village
Clerk (715-687-4166) for replacement. Carts
damaged by negligence will be replaced with a
$75 charge to the property owner.
Weekly garbage MUST fit inside your cart.
Garbage bag stickers may be purchased at the
Village office ($1.50 each) for the occasional
weeks that you have excess garbage.
Garbage, recycling, & compost services de-
scribed herein are for Village residents ONLY.
Plastics #1 - #7 may be included for recycling.
Have an old fridge or freezer? Recycle it by call-
ing Focus on Energy at 800-354-1898. They’ll
pick it up for free and give you a cash incentive!

items increases ease and convenience of recy-
cling so that more people participate and more
resources are saved. We’re making recycling
easier for you!

SINGLE-STREAM RECYCLING GUIDELINES
Items accepted include but are not limited to:
Plastics #1 - #7
Paper egg cartons
Clean, balled aluminum foil and pie pans
Glass bottles & jars
Flattened cardboard
Cans - Tin & Aluminum
Mixed paper products
DO NOT INCLUDE:
Plastic bags
Styrofoam
Scrap metal
Frozen food containers
Microwavable trays
Mirrors, ceramics, or Pyrex
Light bulbs
Wet paper
Waxed paper or cardboard
Motor oil containers
Pizza boxes
Shredded paper must be bagged in a clear plastic
bag so it can be easily identified at the sorting
facility.
Be sure to empty and rinse all food containers.
Anything with food residue cannot be recycled.
All items must fit inside your cart.
When in doubt,
throw it out!
Compost Site West end of Platinum Dr (in the industrial park)
Open 24 hours a day * 7 days a week
APRIL through NOVEMBER
(Weather permitting)
“Green” or “brown” biodegradable waste materials
should be brought to the compost site and dumped on
the appropriate pile. Please refer to the signage at the
compost site for proper dumping.
DO NOT leave bags or trash at the compost site.
Compost site is video-monitored for compliance.
FREE compost and wood chips are available while
supplies last.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources provides
financial assistance to municipalities through grant awards
based on the amount of recyclables collected locally each year.
In 2019, the Village of Stratford
received a DNR grant of
$8,856.95 to offset the cost of
curbside collection charged to
residents.
Curbside collection of leaves, grass clippings and
garden materials. Use clear plastic bags only.
All tree brush and branches must be bundled, not
larger than 2 feet in diameter by 8 feet in length,
and not heavier than 50 pounds per bundle. Keep
thorny brush in separate bundles not longer than
3 feet in length.
Do not set brush out earlier than 48 hours before
yard clean up dates. The property owner is
responsible for all terrace clean up.
Yard Waste Collection
Curbside collection of discarded household items,
such as mattresses, carpet, major appliances,
furniture, excess garbage, etc.
NO tires, waste oil or filters, computers, televisions,
electronics, or construction materials.
Any item must be small and light enough for 1-2
people to load onto trucks - be considerate.
