The Youth of Vision Academy (YOVA) is a private Christian boarding school established to provide educational, therapeutic and behavioral services to children and young adolescents in a safe and nurturing environment.

ADMISSIONPROCESS

1 Apply Online

2 Preparation for Enrollment• Obtain a Passport for travelling• Obtain a Jamaican student visa• Copy of the birth certificate• A notarized letter giving YOVA temporary guardianship over the student while in the program

• Four passport size pictures• A copy of Parents ID• Complete documents given by the school • Work together with YOVA to determine the best date for enrollment

• Bible • Laptop • 10 composition books (NOT spiral)• 1 large package of loose paper• Calculator• 1 large package of pens • 1 large package of pencils (sharpened would make it easier to start)• 3-4 appropriate books• Journal, stationary • 1 package of markers (NO sharpies) • 6 containers of deodorant (non aerosol)• Body lotion• 4 toothbrushes• 3 tubes toothpaste• 2 large container shampoo• 2 large container conditioner• 3 large body wash or 6 bars of soaps• 2 chap sticks• 4 towels and wash cloth • 6 months of feminine products 60-100 of tampons and pads, both heavy and light

• Bathroom bag or plastic holder to hold toiletries• 1 head tie• Hairbands • Acne medicine (if needed)• 6 bras• 12 pair of undies• 3 sport bras• 2 modest bathing suits• 2 pair of jeans• Hair brush and comb• Flashlights plus 2 sets of batteries• 2 pair light weight capris• 5 pair of mid-thigh shorts• 5 t-shirts with nothing controversial on them• 3 church dresses (with sleeves and knee length)• 1 light weight sweater• 1 pair of dress shoe (high heels, wedges or sandals)• 2 pair of tennis shoe (dark in color preffered)• 2 pair of black school shoe (slip-on, flats or dockers)• 4 pair flip flops• 5 pair black socks• Headphones (over the ear)• 2 containers sunscreen (non aerosol)• 3 bottles bug spray (non aerosol)

I have had the honor of working with and training the team at Ebenezer Home and YOVA for the

past two years. I have observed love and dedication that I have not found in any other program. Jennifer

Alexis is an amazing woman who has given her life to doing all she can to help heal children

wounded by trauma. The behavior program is based on Brain Based

Behavior Intervention tools that are research backed and proven to work. The staff do an outstanding job

of helping each student to learn and grow in their education as well as their behavior and

relationship skills. The diet and exercise program are the most

outstanding I have ever seen in any program anywhere. I have absolute confidence in this program and will

continue to recommend it!

SECURITYSafety and supervision are the pulse of our program. We ensure our students are safe at all times. Our ratio of student to staff is 2:1. This enables us to reinforce the structure that we believe facilitate the change towards desirable behavior. We have multiple levels of security to include 24 hours staff supervision, security cameras and external security company to ensure the safety of personnel and property.

DIVERSITYYOVA is a diverse community with over 25 States represented on campus; we also have a small but vibrant contingency from Canada. Our population of staff and students spans five continents and more than a dozen countries. We pride ourselves in being a multicultural environment where we embrace differences and make everyone feel at home. FAMILYINTERVENTION

We believe the day the student is enrolled in our program, their journey back home begins. We facilitate weekly phone calls between students and their parents as we work on building reciprocal relationships. We also facilitate visitation six months after enrollment. We have monthly family conference to work on different issues between student and their parents; while facilitating emotional expressiveness, confidence-building, membership-bonding, mastery of relevant communication techniques, and exploring pattern of behaviors.
