Dear Parents and Carers,

WELCOME TO THE 2019 SCHOOL YEAR Welcome back to Week 2 Term 1 and another fantastic year of learning at Warrawee. I hope that you have all had a very happy and relaxing holiday and are excited about the year ahead.

It is wonderful to see everyone looking so refreshed and happy following the holiday break and ready to return to school. The teachers are all looking forward to another great year. The children have been placed into their 2019 classes and are quickly settling in to their new class routines.

Last week we welcomed several new pupils, across all grades, to our school and yes-terday we welcomed around one hundred very excited Kindergarten pupils and their families as well. I am delighted to welcome you all to our school community and I hope that your association with Warrawee will be a long and happy one.

MEET THE TEACHER We will soon be holding our annual Meet the Teacher evening and you will be notified of the time and date in the next newsletter which will be out next week. The newslet-ter will then continue to be sent out every odd week of term. If you have not down-loaded the Warrawee school app please do so as it is a fabulous way for us to com-municate with you all at short notice.

ANNUAL SWIMMING CARNIVAL We are looking forward to our carnival next Monday. Buses will be leaving at 9:00am promptly in readiness for our big day. Thank you to everyone who has returned their swimming permission notes. Please, if the notes are not in yet, can you ensure that all sections of the notes are completed. I use the bottom part to enter children into races whilst the class teachers retain the top section for per-mission. Thank you to all the families who have done this. Please know that all races will start once all classes are at the pool. There will be no early races. All participating children should be in costumes ready to swim when their races are called. House coloured shirts make it a lot of fun. We look forward to everyone having a great carnival. CONGRATULATIONS We congratulate the 2019 House Captains and Vice Captains.

Please know that these leadership badges will be handed to the house captains at next week’s assembly in the Hall at 1:45pm. HORNSBY ZONE PSSA SUMMER COMPETITION Summer PSSA begin next Friday. Sport for all children in Years 3-6 will occur on Fridays in the morning session. Trials are under way with teachers taking great care and a lot of time to select the teams. Once the teams are decided and a draw known, permission notes will be handed out. Sue Jurkschat

On the last day of the school year 2018, I accepted a permanent teaching position at Hornsby North Public School. I am very excit-ed to be moving there in January, but I am also very sad to be leaving Warrawee. I have taught at Warrawee for 12 years and loved every minute, the children are bright and kind, the parents are supportive and helpful and the staff have always been gener-ous and inclusive.

I am very sad that I was unable to say a proper goodbye to the community that welcomed me and made me feel that I belonged. And so, to all of the beautiful students I have taught, to all of the wonderful parents who have done so much to help shape the com-munity into what it is today and to all of my fantastic friends and colleagues who work so hard to create the very best opportunities for our children, I want to say the BIGGEST thank you ever! I will never forget the fantastic years that I have spent there.

Thank you to the moon and back. Debbie Bell
