The Build n Play Programme Begins next week The Lower Hutt City Councils Build n Play Trailer will be on site here at Our Lady of the Rosary School the weeks beginning Monday 13th May and Monday 20th May. The Build n Play Trailer is an initiative developed by the Hutt City Council to encourage the children to be active and creative. The trailer is loaned to the school for a two-week period. The trailer includes a range of materials and tools that students can use independently to complete tasks. The types of materials and equipment include; planks of wood, tyres, rope, saws, hammers, buckets, spades, levels, and nails. The students and teachers are given a safety briefing before taking part. Please note that there is an element of risk in the use of this equipment that cannot be eliminated. This could include your child being injured or otherwise hurt through their use of the equipment such as hammer and nails, or through the use of the equipment by other children. The students will be supervised at all times while using the materials and equipment. Please contact your child'/ren’s classroom teacher if you do not want them to take part in the Build n Play Trailer Programme.

We encourage students and families to collect items that the students can use during the sessions. These items could include wood offcuts, milk bottle tops, yogurt containers and any other clean material. Please send these items along to your child/ren’s classroom over the next 2 weeks. To support our students in the learning we are requesting for extra adult support for each class session during their allocated timeslots. If you are available to give up some time during the day please contact your child/ren’s teacher before Friday morning for the teachers to timetable the weeks ahead.

Dear Parents and Caregivers, RE: Sacramental Programme 2019 The Sacramental Programme for 2019 will be commencing this term. The Sacramental Programme is for all those who are in Year 4 and over, who have been baptised and are ready to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, Confirmation and First Holy Communion. The Sacramental Programme will be lead through the school, during school hours. The programme will be led by myself, Sarah Saunders, the Sacramental Programme Co-ordinator with close consultation with Jane Carter our Director of Religious Studies (DRS) here at Our Lady of the Rosary School. Chaucey Ellis, a parent of the school and parish representative will be assisting with the programme. Father John and Father Michael will also be involved in the programme. The first Sacramental Parent Session will take place on Tuesday 28th May from 6.30 – 7.30pm, which will be held at school. At this session Parents and Caregivers will receive information regarding the programme. The Sacramental Programme is regarded as a home/school/parish programme with each taking a shared responsibility for educating and supporting our children in the development of their faith. The children will make their First Reconciliation on Thursday 13th June, at 6pm, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. We will be joining Sacred Heart Petone and San Antonio to celebrate Confirmation together on Sunday 4th August. The First Communion lessons for the children will be in Term 3, leading to the First Communion Mass on Sunday 8th September, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Due to a number of small costs to run the Sacramental Programme here at Our Lady of the Rosary School, we are asking if you could please pay $15 per child. This money will be going towards certificates, printing, candles, necklaces etc. If you have any problems or queries regarding this fee, please do not hesitate to see me at school or send me an email at [email protected]. Please send your money to the school office. If your child/children will be receiving the Sacraments this year, please fill in the form below and return to the office by Friday 17th May. Please send a copy of your child’s Baptism certificate if your child was NOT baptised at Our Lady of the Rosary Parish. It is a real privilege to be involved in this programme and I look forward to working with you all during this very special time. Kind Regards Sarah Saunders [email protected]
