THE Y IS THE PLACE FOR SUMMER CAMP!

The YMCA knows children. We know they need to spend time outdoors practicing social and decision-making skills. And we know they need to be inspired and mentored. Y Day Camp offers all of these things. Plus, our camps are safe and include value-based programming focused on caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. We look forward to getting to know your children and helping them discover and reach their full potential.

SUPERIOR STAFF - Amazing staff with extensive training,plusallcounselorsarecertifiedinFirstAid, CPR, and AED. EXPERIENCE - Veteran staff directors oversee all aspects of camp with a combined total of over 85 years of experience. VARIETY - Many camp options: Preschool, Day Camp, Teen, Specialty Camps & Counselor in Train-ing program. FLEXIBLE - You can choose different camps over the course of eleven weeks, no minimum days or weeks required.

SUZANNE BLECHA Suzanne has been with the Pav YMCA for the last 32 years working with our youngest members and their families. She is excited to meet our newest campers! Suzanne is also very honored to see her previous Kiddie Campers returning to our Day Camp, Teen Camp and then thrive as responsible young adults as they become camp staff.

ARACELI EUFRACIOAraceli has worked in our baby-sitting, preschool and Kiddie Camp programs for 13 years. Her patience and understanding of the young child are two of her most valued assets. She works hard to make each day special for all of the children she works with. SABINA GARCIA Sabina cannot wait for summer to get started! This is her 5th summer with the program and she loves seeing campers enjoy all of the trips we take throughout the summer! JUSTIN GONZALEZJustin will be back for his 12th summer here and is eager to meet new campers and catch up with previous attendees! His knowledge in technology and so-cial media will make sure that you’re connected to all of our camp fun!

JARED MILLER Jared is thrilled to meet all of our PAV Y campers for the firsttimethisyear!He’sexcitedtoseehowwelleveryoneswims and ecstatic to help teach everyone how to stay Safe Around Water!

SAM PILLOT Sam has been keeping our campers smiling since 2014! Her enthusiasm and high spirits make even our rainy summer days bright! Don’t forget to ask her to sing a funny camp song when you see her!

STEPH ROBINSON This will be Steph’s 12th summer with the Pav YMCA Day Camp program and she is excited to introduce new and exciting adventures for our campers! Her favorite part of camp is Friday Activities!

KATIE TRENDELKatie is super excited for her 5th year overseeing Teen Camp. She is also stoked for the NEW Counselor in Training program that will provide a unique opportunity for youth to develop life long leadership skills.

ABOUT KIDDIE CAMP Our Kiddie Camp is the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing healthy habits they will carry with them throughout their lives. Our activities will give your younger child the traditional camp experience, while enjoying the safety and comfort of our YMCA.

BASIC INFORMATION Ages: 3 - 5 years old* in Fall of 2018 Weeks: 1-10 Hours: 9:00am-2:00pm *If your child is entering Kindergarten in the fall but you would like them to attend Kiddie Camp, please note this on your registration form.

BEFORE & AFTER CARE We offer before and after care from 6:30-9:00am and from 2:00-6:00pm. At times, Kiddie Campers may attend before and after care with day camp and their counselors. Please contact Suzanne Blecha for more information. Pre-registration is required.

WHERE THE YOUTH OF AMERICA LEARN TO SWIM We believe learning to swim should be a requirement for every child in our community. Therefore, we are offering free swim lessons to those who attend Kiddie Camp. Register for 2-5 weeks of Kiddie Camp and receive a swim voucher for one of our summer session swimming classes. Sign up for 6 or more weeks of Kiddie Camp and receive a voucher for a swimming class during each of our summer sessions. Contact Jared Miller for more information.

CRAFT TIMEChildren can unleash their inner Picasso and explore the wonderful world of art! We will get our hands messy and explore a variety of materials and create many fridge-worthy masterpieces throughout the summer!

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY At the Y we know exercise is important in a child’s life. That’s why throughout the camp day we will engage in many fun indoor and outdoor activities! Campers will be able to burn off energy while learning the beginning stages of sportsmanship.

SOCIALIZATION Developing friendships at a young age buildsconfidencethatcamperswilltakewith them throughout life. During the camp day children will have time to play with friends as well as engage in instructional activities such as reading and song time.

OUTDOOR PLAY Campers will enjoy the experience of outdoor park time at the comfort of our YMCA in our beautiful on-site playground.

SPLASH TIME When the weather is warm and the sun is out, campers will enjoy splashing and playing in our wadding pools. Swimming takes place on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

DAY CAMP

What makes our YMCA summer camp unique is that children learn leadership skills and develop self-confidence in a safe, accepting, and stimulating environment. They also build robots, create masterpieces, shoot hoops, learn to swim, make new friends, and laugh all summer long! During the week, campers rotate between activities that keep their minds growing while having fun. Every 45 minutes campers will visit one of our specialists with their group to engage in an age-appropriate activity. Our specialists are college age students or graduates who have knowledge and passion for their specialty. Children are never bored when they are here!

READING When they visit our reading specialist, children will have the opportunity to read. They also will work on improving their reading level and take trips to the library to learn the importance of literacy.

STEM Developing critical-thinking, learning how to fail and working successfully in a team are all traits we focus on in our STEM specialty. Children will explore the wonderful worlds of science, technology, engineering and math! ARTS & CRAFTS During art, campers discover new skills and talents through art in a welcoming environment where they feel comfortable to express themselves.

CHARACTER COUNTS Caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, our YMCA Core Values, are all taught in Character Counts through group games and self-reflectingactivities.

SWIMMING Every camper will learn the importance of water safety while receiving at least two swim lessons per week through our upgraded swim lesson program.

SPORTS Childrenwillbuildconfidence,discover their personal best and develop sportsmanship while learning the fundamentals of popular sports.

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT):The CIT program provides a unique opportunity to develop skills necessary for working with children in a hands-on environment. CITs are involved in assisting camp staff with projects, activities, lesson plans, and more. CITs must be 13 yearsofagebythefirstdayofcamp.

STEPS TO BECOME A CIT:1. Register at the front desk (starting March 1st)2. Informational packets are mailed in late April. Packets should be completed and returned on the date of your interview.3. In May, prospective CITs are contacted to schedule an interview. Bring all paperwork, along with three goals of what you would like to learn through this program. 4.Oncetheinterviewsarecomplete,CITsarenotifiedoftheirstatus.Thoseselectedneedtoattendthemandatoryorientation on June 2nd. After the orientation, staff determines placement based on the CIT’s schedule and availability. CITs are not placed with 6th-10th graders.
