What you need to do?

o Prepare Form A, JAE – PIN/SingPass and

completed worksheet.

o Log onto

https://www.moe.gov.sg/admissions/joint-

admissions-exercise

o If your JAE application is submitted

successfully, a Verification Slip appears on the

screen. Print the slip and keep it.

o All students successfully admitted to a school through

Direct School Admission-JC (DSA-JC) Exercise/ Early

Admissions Exercise (EAE) will not be able to

participate in JAE.

o Their Form A will show that they have been admitted

to an institution through DSA-JC/ EAE.

o EAE offers are confirmed if they meet the following

criteria

A net ELR2B2 score of 26 points or better for the

GCE O-Level examinations; and

Minimum Entry Requirements for the respective

polytechnic course.

Key Considerations for Your Education &

Career Pathways

o What am I good at? Are there areas that I am interested in?

Think about type of courses you have strengths and areas you are

interested in.

For example, you may be interested in healthcare and/or

engineering related courses.

o Where should I go?

List down all the institutions that offer courses aligned to your

interests.

For example, if you are interested in design, you could list down

the design courses offered by the polytechnics, such as the

Diploma in Animation, offered by NP or Diploma in Sonic Arts,

offered by RP. You can also consider courses offered by ITE such

as the Higher Nitec in Interactive Design.

You may also consider Common Entry Programmes (CEP) in the

polytechnics.

o Which institutions/courses should I choose?

Use all 12 JAE choices carefully. Consider all

possibilities, including Higher Nitec Courses.

Refer to the JCs/CI, Poly and ITE websites to find out

more!

Refer to the JAE booklet, including information on

the subject-specific minimum entry requirements

(MER), and the cut-off points the year before.

For Poly-eligible Students with Borderline

Aggregate

o Poly-eligible students with borderline aggregate scores

(~L1R4 22 to 28, with D7 or worse in Math) might not be

posted to a poly course.

o If so, take part in the combined Poly/ITE JAE Appeals

and consider a range of courses and institutions,

including Higher Nitec courses.

o Consider accepting the “alternative posting” to secure a

place for your post-secondary option.

o You can still appeal to the other courses/institutions

directly if you wish, even if you have accepted the

posting offered through JAE appeal.

For Higher Nitec-eligible Students with Borderline

Aggregate

o Higher Nitec-eligible students with borderline aggregate

scores (~L1R4 of 31 pts or more, with F9 in Math) are

encouraged to apply Nitec courses vie JIE ‘O’ while

applying for JAE to broaden possibilities.

o If you did not receive a JAE posting, ITE might offer you

a place in a Nitec course soon after the release of the JAE

posting results.

o Consider accepting the “alternative posting” from ITE to

continue your studies.

o You can still appeal for a Higher Nitec course during the

JAE appeals.

Which courses should I appeal for and

How do I appeal?

o You can only appeal for the courses where you meet the

current year’s cut-off point and MER.

o Use all 6 JAE appeal choices carefully.

o Submit your appeal through the JAE appeals website:

https://jaeappeal.polytechnic.edu.sg

o You will be informed of the outcome through the portal

and SMS notifications. Note that appeal postings are

subject to available vacancies.

Progression Pathway for Secondary Four N(A) Students

o For successful PFP and/or DPP applicants

o Students who have been offered a place in the DPP under

the final application phase should report to ITE upon

acceptance of their DPP course offer.

o The last day of school for Secondary 5 students who have

accepted a place in the PFP will be on Friday, 31 January

2020. Students will be informed by the respective

polytechnics of the enrolment dates for the PFP.

o Students who accepted a place in the earlier December

application phase of the DPP but have now decided to

take up a PFP offer will need to apply to ITE to withdraw

from the DPP first, before they are able to take up that

PFP offer.

Application to Repeat

Sec 4E and Sec 5N students are allowed to repeat the

O Level Examination only if they satisfy all the

criteria below:

o Obtained not more than 2 GCE O-Level passes

(excluding CCA) and an aggregate of 44 points or

less in 5 subjects.

o Obtained 3 or more GCE O-Level passes

(excluding CCA) but do not qualify for

admission to Junior Colleges, Millennia Institute

or Polytechnics.

Application to Repeat

o Will not be more than:

i) 4 years overage, for Singapore Citizens/ Permanent Residents

(i.e. born on or after 2 Jan 1999 for Sec 5N students, and born on

or after 2 Jan 2000 for Sec 4E students), or

ii) 2 years overage, for International Students (i.e. born on or after

2 Jan 2001 for Sec 5N students, and born on or after 2 Jan 2002 for

Sec 4E students)

and

o Had been enrolled in a mainstream secondary school in 2019

o Sat for the GCE O-Level Examination for the first time in 2019

o Pupils who have strong ground to believe that

there are discrepancies in their result are to

approach the general office for the appeal for

review of results form.

o Pupils have to pay $112.35 per appeal per subject.

o Completed forms are to be submitted together

with the fees payable by Friday, 17 Jan 2020.
