MY POINTS OF INTEREST/USER-DEFINED POINTS OF INTEREST(POIs)A point of interest (POI) in the My Points ofInterest database is a specific location ofinterest such as a gas station or bank. ThePOI consists of a longitude value, a latitudevalue and a name.

Additional POIs can be added to the sys-tem using the vehicle’s USB port. For moreinformation about using the USB port, seeyour vehicle’s owner’s manual.

The POIs can be set as a destination or besetup to activate POI warnings that displaya pop-up message when the vehicle ap-proaches certain areas such as hazardspot warnings.

In order to save the user-defined points ofinterest data, a USBmass storage device isrequired. The user-defined points of inter-est data cannot be saved on the SD-cardwhich contains the navigation data.

NOTE:

User-defined points of interest are notshown in themap representation.

The system recognizes the user-definedpoints of interest (POI) data and then asksthe user via a pop-up message if the dataneeds to be downloaded into the system.

If you confirm the download, the availableuser Points of Interest in the system inter-nal memory will be deleted and the newones in the USB mass storage device willbe downloaded into the internal memoryof the system.

The progress of the download is shown bya progress-bar. When the download isfinished, the user is notified that the USBmass storage device can be removed.

ROUTE GUIDANCEThe main features of the NISSAN Naviga-tion System are visual guidance and voiceguidance in selected map coverage areas.Utilizing a network of GPS (Global Position-ing System) satellites, the NISSAN Naviga-tion System tracks the location on themap and navigates to a preferred location.

Once you set the destination in amap cov-erage area, the NISSAN Navigation Systemwill calculate a route from your current lo-cation to your destination. The real-timemap display and turn-by-turn voice guid-ance leads the driver along the route. These features can be especially helpfulwhen driving to unfamiliar locations.

The system may be unable to set a desti-nation and/or calculate a route when thedestination is outside the map coveragearea. Additionally, voice guidance may notbe available if the destination is outsidethemap coverage area. Formore informa-tion on how to set a destination, refer toSection 4.

POINTS OF INTEREST DIRECTORYThe NISSAN Navigation System offers anextensive Points of Interest directory inmap coverage areas. This directory in-cludes a wide variety of destinations. Byaccessing the Points of Interest directory, you can search for addresses for adestination, and just by pushing a button, the NISSAN Navigation System will calcu-late a route to the destination.

The Points of Interest directory has manyuses. For example, the directory can besorted by the various types of restaurantsnear your current location. If you need abank or a gas station, the NISSAN Naviga-tion System can navigate you to the clos-est preferred location using the Points ofInterest entered in the system.

“SETTING A DESTINATION FROMPOINTS OF INTEREST” (page 4-9)

function allows easy access to frequentlyvisited locations when setting them asyour destination.

DETAILED MAP COVERAGE (MCA)FOR THE NAVIGATION SYSTEMThis system is designed to help you reachyour destination, and also performs otherfunctions as outlined in this manual. However, you, the driver, must use the sys-tem safely and properly. Information con-cerning road conditions, traffic signs andthe availability of services may not alwaysbe up-to-date. The system is not a substi-tute for safe, proper, and legal driving.

Map data is available on the providedSD-card. For information about the mapSD-card, contact a NISSAN dealer or callthe NISSAN NAVIGATION SYSTEMHELPDESK. See the contact information onthe inside front cover of this manual.

Map data includes 2 types of areas: “De-tailed coverage areas” providing all de-tailed road data and other areas showing“Main roads only”.

NOTE:

Detailed map data is not available inmany areas and is generally limited toselect major metropolitan areas.

WHEN A GRAY ROAD IS DISPLAYEDON THE MAPRoute calculation may not be possiblewhen a destination or the current vehiclelocation is near a gray road.

Route guidance (enlarged view and voiceguidance) may not be available at the in-tersection where the road your vehicle isdriving on and a gray road intersect.

Places information and street names neargray roads are not contained in the mapdata.

The NISSAN Navigation System may notcalculate a route if the current vehicle lo-cation is too far away from the destination. In this case, please divide your trip by se-lecting one or two intermediatedestinations.

To reach your destination, refer to themapscreen. Always follow actual roads andregulations and drive safely.

The suggested route may not be theshortest, nor are other circumstancessuch as traffic jams considered unless theSiriusXM Traffic is active.

Because of the inevitable difference inroad conditions and circumstances be-tween the time you use this system andthe time the information was produced forthe map data, there may be discrepanciesin roads and regulations. In such cases, fol-low the actual information available.

During route calculation, the map will notscroll, however the vehicle icon will movewith the actual vehicle’s movement.

In some cases, after the calculation iscomplete, the calculated route may not beimmediately displayed.

If you scroll the map while the suggestedroute is being drawn, it may take moretime to finish drawing.

If waypoints are set, the system calculatesmultiple routes between waypointssimultaneously, and the following may re-sult:

∙ If one section betweenwaypoints cannotbe calculated, none of the route will bedisplayed.

∙ The route may not connect completelyat some waypoints

∙ The route may require a U-turn close tosome waypoints.

Route calculation may not be completedin the following cases:

∙ If there is no main road within a range of1.5 miles (2.5 km) from the vehicle, a mes-sage will then appear on the screen. Tryrecalculating when the vehicle is closerto a main road.

∙ If the vehicle is too close to the destina-tion or if there are no roads to thedestination, a message will then appearon the screen.

∙ If it is impossible to reach the destinationor waypoints because of trafficregulations, etc.

∙ If the only target route to the destinationor waypoints is extremely complicated.

The following may occur when the route isdisplayed:

∙ If you calculate a route on a main road, the starting point of the route may notexactly match the current vehiclelocation.

∙ The endpoint of the route may not ex-actly match the destination.

∙ If you calculate a route on a main road, the system may display a route from an-other main road. This may be becausethe position of the vehicle icon is notaccurate. In this case, park the vehicle ina safe location and reset the vehicle icon,or continue driving to see if the positionof the vehicle icon is automatically ad-justed before recalculating the route.

“VEHICLE ICON” (page 7-3)

∙ In some cases, the system shows anindirect route to the destination orwaypoints if you set them fromstored or places information. In orderto correct, youmust be careful aboutthe traffic direction, especially whenlanes with different travel directionsare shown separately, such as inter-changes and service areas.

∙ Even if the freeway preference is set toOFF, a route that uses the freeway maybe suggested.

∙ Even if the preference is set to OFF, aroute that uses a ferry line may besuggested.

∙ Ferry lines, excluding those that are onlyfor pedestrians, bicycles andmotorcycles, are stored in this system.Take into consideration the travel timerequired and operational condition be-fore deciding whether to use the route.

BASICS OF VOICE GUIDANCEThe voice guidance announces which di-rection to follow when approaching an in-tersection where a turn is required.

After setting the route, select “Start” to be-gin route guidance.

During route guidance, the system navi-gates you through the guide points usingvisual and voice guidance.

NOTE:

The navigation system visual and voiceguidance is for reference purposes only. The contents of the guidancemay be in-appropriate depending on the situation.

NOTE:

Theremay be some cases in which voiceguidance and actual road conditions donot correspond. Thismay occur becauseof discrepancies between the actualroad and the information on the mapdata, or due to the vehicle’s speed.

NOTE:

In case voice guidance does not corre-spond to the actual road conditions, fol-low the information obtained from traf-fic signs or noticed on the road.

NOTE:

Route guidance provided by the naviga-tion system does not take carpool lanedriving into consideration, especiallywhen carpool lanes are separated fromother road lanes.

NOTES ON VOICE GUIDANCEVoice guidance in this system should beregarded as a supplementary function. When driving your vehicle, check the routeon the map and follow the actual roadsand traffic regulations.

Voice guidance is activated only for inter-sections with certain conditions.

There may be cases where the vehicle hasto turn, but voice guidance is not provided.

Voice guidance contents may vary, de-pending on the direction of the turn andthe type of intersection.

The voice guidance timing will vary de-pending on the situation.

When the vehicle has deviated from thesuggested route, voice guidance is notavailable. The system will not announcethis to you. Refer to the map and recalcu-late the route.

Voice guidance may not accurately corre-spond with road numbers and directionsat freeway junctions.

Voice guidance may not accurately corre-spond to street names at freeway exits.

The displayed street names may some-times differ from the actual names, or “UN-KNOWN STREET NAME” may be displayed.

Voice guidance is not available when thefeature is disabled in the SETTINGSmenu.Voice guidance will start when thevehicle enters the suggested route. Referto the map for directions to the startingpoint of the route.

When approaching a waypoint, voice guid-ance will announce, “You have reachedyour intermediate destination on the(left/right) side.” Voice guidance will switchto the next section of the route. Whenvoice guidance is not available, refer to themap for directions.

In some cases, voice guidance ends beforearrival at the destination. Refer to the des-tination icon on the map to reach thedestination.

If the system recognizes on which side thedestination (waypoint) is located, voiceguidance will announce “on the right/left”after announcing the arrival at thedestination.

Voice guidance may be partially opera-tional or inoperative due to the angle ofroads at an intersection.

Because it is not possible to consider dataconcerning roads that are seasonallyavailable or unavailable, a route may bedisplayed that does not match the actualtraffic restrictions. Be sure to follow the ac-tual traffic restrictions while driving.

Canada and Alaska contain many roadswith incomplete map data. As a result, when searching for a route, the route mayinclude roads with incomplete data. In re-gions where road data is not complete, voice guidance may stop for long periodsof time. Be sure to follow the actual trafficrestrictions while driving.

Names of roads and locations differ between2D and 3D mode.

This is because the quantity of the displayed informa-tion is reduced so that the screen does not becomedifficult to read. There is also a chance that names ofthe roads or locations may be displayed severaltimes, and the names appearing on the screen maybe different because of a processing procedure.

This is not a malfunction.

The vehicle icon is not displayed in the cor-rect position.

The vehicle was transported after the ignition switchwas turned off by a ferry or car transporter, forexample.

Drive the vehicle for a while on a road where GPS signalscan be received.

The position and direction of the vehicle icon may beincorrect depending on the driving environments andthe levels of positioning accuracy of the navigationsystem.
