II. Strategic Technology Planning

6. Summarize the planning process used to develop answers to the Instructional Technology Plan questions and/oryour district comprehensive instructional technology plan. Please include the stakeholder groups participating andthe outcomes of the instructional technology plan development meetings.

In 2014, Spencerport School District held a Tech. Summit. Teachers, administrators, Board of Education members, support staff and communitymembers collaborated to develop a Tech. Vision Statement, Strategic Objectives and a Strategic plan for the rollout of devices and implementation of instructional technology. Spencerport's Technology Advisory Committee is comprised of teachers, administrators, Tech. staff, community members and Board of Educationmembers. This committee helps to steer the district's ever evolving vision for 1:1 purchasing, implementation and instructional pathways. Thiscommittee collaborated to develop the first iteration of our four goals and corresponding action steps that make up our 2018-2021 StrategicTechnology Plan. In the years after the Tech. Summit, the district's Digital Conversion Teams have led our Digital Conversion. These teams at grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12are made up of teachers who applied and were vetted by administrators and instructional coaches. Led by Spencerport's Chief Information Officer, these teams developed a multi-year plan aimed at introducing and supporting the seven ISTE Standards for Students. This plan, which has undergoneseveral iterations, has provided guidance in the implementation of purposeful instructional technology across the district. While Spenceperport'sDigital Conversion Teams continue to evolve, each team is committed to supporting administrators and teachers in the balanced andmindful implementation of devices and instructional technology. The Digital Conversion teams assisted in vetting the four goals and action steps thatwere created by the Technology Advisory Committee. In July of 2018, district administrators gathered to provide feedback on each of the four goals. This group, including district and building-leveladministrators, made suggestions one each of the four goals. Following this meeting, a smaller group of district and building-level administratorsconvened to review their colleagues commentary and revise the exiting goals. Lastly, these goals were reintroduced to building principals for theirapproval. In September of 2018, the district's revised goals and action steps will be published and presented to both the Technology Advisory Committee andour Digital Conversion Team. In doing so, we hope to bring the process full circle. Each building will address the goals and actions steps within theirBuilding Planning Team plans.

II. Strategic Technology Planning

7. Please describe the professional development plan for building the capacity of educators and administrators in theattainment of the instructional technology vision.

In the past two years, our Professional Development Plan has evolved to meet the needs of teachers and students in a 1:1 environment. In 2016-2017,the district began training 1:1 pilot teachers by providing these teachers professional development focused on the implementation of instructionaltechnology. These teachers became the conduit for broader learning, as they turnkeyed their knowledge across the district. In 2017-2018, DigitalConversion Teams at grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12 continued to explore the ISTE Standards for Students, as they were introduced to new methods tointegrate balanced and thoughtful instructional technology in their classrooms. As members of the DCT, these teacher leaders were charged withsupporting their colleagues throughout the district. This collaboration has come in the form of push-in support and breakout sessions during facultymeetings. As we prepare for the 2018-2019 school year, we will continue to build the capacity of teachers across the district. The Digital ConversionTeams will grow their own learning as they work to meet the unique needs of our K-12 teachers. In 2017-2018, the district worked to create innovative professional development offerings that provide an alternative to the traditional six hourdistrict-wide PD. For example, teachers were invited to share their expertise on a variety of Tech-centric topics during Power Hour and App SpeedDating. In August of 2017, Spencerport Schools hosted an edcamp that saw over 150 participants. District leaders are currently planning a secondedcamp to be held on October 13th of 2018. Recently, Spencerport has partnered with several neighboring districts to share our progress towards adigital conversion while learning learn from others around us.In the 2017-2018 school year, the district began a pilot of four online professional development courses for teachers. To ensure consistency and acommon experience, the district's BOCES Technology Integration Specialist created the template and expectations for these courses. The initialfive courses were created by teachers and instructional coaches. This pilot proved to be successful, as all participants completed the courses andoffered valuable feedback and reflection. We will continue to move toward anytime online PD in the 2018-2019 school year. This shift aligns withSpencerport's commitment to support ongoing learning that reaches beyond the district's brick and mortar footprint. Furthermore, courses focusing on instructional technology will be offered throughout the school year. These classes will include, but are notlimited to the following:Device and classroom management in a 1:1 learning environmentKnowing what to do when the tech fails in a 1:1 ClassroomMeaningful centers in a 1:1 Classroom. Knowing when to use the technology and when to use more traditional strategies and toolsSchoology Learning Management System, an introductionSchoology Learning Management System, intermediate skillsSchoology Learning Management System, advancedStudent portfolios in a 1:1 Classroom utilizing SchoologyHeading towards using data points in a 1:1 ClassroomBlended Learning in a 1:1 ClassroomStudents as Producers in a 1:1 ClassroomClassroom Virtual field trips and author visits using Skype for BusinessOn Demand Online Courses Tech. Edcamp to be held on 10.13.18 Through a partnership with the Warner School of Education, five Spencerport teachers will participate in Digitally-Rich Teaching and Learning in K-12 Schools. This graduate level course will be held in the fall of 2018.

IV. NYSED Initiatives Alignment

Section IV - NYSED Initiatives Alignment1. Explain how the district use of instructional technology will serve as a part of comprehensive and sustained effort

to support rigorous academic standards attainment and performance improvement for students.

As our district moves to full implementation of 2:1 at grades K-1 and 1:1 at grades 2-12 in the 2018-2019 school year, our focus is on supportingcontent standards through alignment to the 2016 ISTE Standards for Students. Our teachers, instructional coaches and administrators have worked tobuild a multi-year plan that provides guidance in supporting the 2016 ISTE Standards for Students through the balanced and thoughtful useof instructional technology. Furthermore, our district-wide use of Schoology as a learning management system has allowed students, parents, teachers and administrators 24/7access to learning. Beginning at our elementary grades, students have access to their assignments and are able to connect with their teachers and fellow learners. Parents can also access their student's assignments and projects through the parent portal. Classrooms across the district continue to leverage communication software such as Skype and Zoom to connect with learners within our communityand across the globe. These experiences help students to make real world connections to their learning, provides access to a global audience andfosters opportunities to engage in global perspectives. In the past two years, Spencerport School District has partnered with Marcia Kish to explore the blended learning model of instruction. By trainingadministrators, Teacher/Team Leaders, as well as members of our Digital Conversion Teams, we have come to a more complete understanding ofhow to employ instructional technology alongside more traditional modes of instruction. After Zooming or working directly with Mrs. Kish, ourteachers and administrators have collaborated to create district-wide and building-based professional development offerings that support the blendedlearning model of instruction. These opportunities focus on using technology as a tool to amplify learning while implementing best instructionalpractices.

2. Students with disabilities may be served through the use of instructional technology as well as assistivetechnology devices and services to ensure access to and participation in the general curriculum. Describe howinstruction is differentiated using technology to support the individualized learning needs of this student group.

To support the instructional goals of the District, we have initiated a 1:1 program for grades 2-12 and 2:1 for grades K and 1. Utilizing current andproposed resources in addition to transitioning to a modern data-centric learning management system, we will be able to extend the learningopportunities for students beyond the school day. The resources include web-based software subscriptions supporting literacy, numeracy andinstructional programs (e.g., STEAM). Additionally, our 1:1 program will benefit struggling learners (SWD, ELL) with differentiated resourcesaligning to their instructional needs. These include but are not limited to our partnership with Monroe 2 BOCES assistive technology services. Our 1:1initiative will continue to enhance our program for SWD with an increased opportunity for tactile, interactive and differentiated resources through theuse of 1:1 devices. Our students with disabilities will benefit from 1:1 devices through the use of web applications, language tools, and giving alllearners access to high quality instructional materials. Our learning management system will connect the classroom to the home on a daily basis. As aresult of our transition to web based instructional tools, students will be reaching outside the boundaries of their classroom on a daily basis throughcollaboration, partnership on an affordable basis
