LADY SCOTS COACHES

Head Coach Nicole Fleming is in her 13th year of coaching/teaching and in her fifth year at Highland Park. She is here by way of Duncanville where she served as a Varsity Assistant and JV Coach for eight years. In her tenure, Duncanville enjoyed record success with 105 straight wins and three consecutive trips to the State Tournament, winning in 2012 and 2013 and as runners-up in 2014. While at Highland Park she has led the Lady Scots to the playoffs the last four years. In her first two years the Lady Scots were classified in the 6A division. The Lady Scots placed second in district, were bi-district champs, and area finalist with an overall record of 20-11 for the 2014-2015 season. In the 2015-2016 season the Lady Scots finished third in district and were bi-district finalist with an overall record of 17-13. The Lady Scots captured a

District Championship, the first since 1999, in the 2016-2017 season with a 13-1 dis-trict record and an overall record of 23-9, they were bi-district champs and area final-ist. In 2017-18 the Lady Scots were bi-district qualifiers. Coach Fleming graduated from Tatum High School and then attended Angelo State University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and a minor in Biology. She received her Master’s in Health and Human Performance with a focus in Athletic Administration from A&M Commerce. She teaches Physical Education/Fitness at HPHS and fifth grade Physical Education at MIS. Nicole is married to John.

Coach Samuel Standridge is in his second year at Highland Park High School and his fifth year of coaching and teaching. He is the assistant coach for the JV Girls basketball team and teaches Sophomore English Pre-AP TAG and Standard. Before joining the Lady Scot basketball program, Coach Standridge graduated with his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in English from the University of Texas at Arlington where he also worked as writing tutor. After finishing his M.A. in the summer of 2014, Coach Standridge spent the following three years teaching Junior English and coaching the JV Girls basketball team at Rowlett High School.

Coach Beth Tallant is in her 12th year as a teacher/coach and third year at Highland Park High School. She is the Lady Scots Assistant Varsity Coach. She comes from Sherman High School where she was Head Girls Basketball Coach and Girls Athletic Coordinator for four years. Tallant graduated from Denton High School and received both her Bachelor’s and

Master’s degrees from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. Her coaching assignments include Varsity assistant basketball and Track. She is the special education department chair and is in the Algebra I and Algebra II classrooms. She is married to Kayla and they have four fur babies.

Coach Kelsie Tipping is in her fifth year as a teacher and coach. She graduated from Blooming Grove High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree from Texas State University in Exercise and Sports Medicine.Coach Tipping’s coaching assignments include JV Volleyball and JV Basketball. She teaches Algebra II at HPHS.

The purpose of Lady Scot Basketball Camp is to help each athlete improve their fundamental skills. Each athlete will be given detailed instruction on ball handling, passing, dribbling, footwork, defense, rebounding; as well as,

overall knowledge of the game. Camp will also stress the importance of teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship.All Camps will be held at Highland Park Middle School and coached by the HPHS and HPMS coaching staff.
