Where We Are...Our products are found in all kinds of commercial and business deployments, including lodging and hospitality, MDUs, broadcast studios, educational institutions, healthcare facilities (hospitals, express care and fitness centers), governmental facilities and offices, prisons, airports, sports stadiums and arenas, entertainment venues, casinos, retail stores, and small businesses. The list is long, and the opportunities are significant. We work with all operators, integrators, and newcomers that serve these locations, whether they are the large cable MSOs, Telcos, Satellite Providers, or the new content delivery entrants that are squarely focused on streaming media. The bottom line is that our opportunities, and the solutions we are creating cover the complete spectrum of content contribution, distribution, and video delivery - it is not a single company, single market, or single technology. That said, we face many challenges being a long-lasting U.S. manufacturer in the communications industry. We constantly have to transform our business to stay up with the changes in the market and emerging technologies. While we have been generally focused on video and data products for one-box applications, we are now moving towards providing full-system solutions for our customers, supporting the roll out of new technologies, such as Ultra HD, IPTV, and DOCSIS 3.1. To learn more about our products visit our website at www.blondertongue.com.

EIGHT PROGRAM / ZONE APPLICATION

This system overview consists of DIRECTV H25 satellite receivers along with one or more Blonder Tongue HDE-8C-QAM unit(s). Each unit controls up to eight H25 receivers and delivers the programming on CATV digital channels to the TV's throughout the establishment via standard coaxial cabling. Each receiver is considered a zone, and is assigned a unique virtual channel number in the channel lineup for easy selection and viewing.

By using Blonder Tongue's BaR GameChanger app with a tablet or smart phone, you can select and display any program on any TV. Only one receiver at a time is commanded to tune the selected program. Following selection of a program, the tablet or smart phone will display the programs being viewed on the "BaR Zone's Screen."

The LiveCast ingests live broadcast-quality content for IP transport over the low cost public internet. The unit will locally encode an HD/SD-SDI live feed and transport it over the public internet to a cloud-based video media, or service provider for future processing into the multiscreen workflow.

LiveCast accepts one (1) HD/SD-SDI input and delivers one (1) IP Stream via SFP port.

The unit supports Zixi's UDP-based video-optimized protocol, made to run on standard IP networks over managed or unmanaged networks, including the public internet. Zixi transport stream protocol uses content aware Forward Error Correction (FEC), which provides users with the capability to originate and deliver broadcast video content wherever internet connections are available to any device, anywhere, at any time using standard protocols. For Point-to-Point applications, the LiveCast encoder is best paired with the HDDM decoder for an End-to-End IP video delivery solution.

Features• H.264 video encoding• Supports Zixi UDP-based video-optimized protocol output• Provides 608/708 Closed Captioning resolutions of 480i, 720p, or 1080i• Dolby® Digital, AAC, or MPEG-1-Layer 2 stereo audio encoding from PCM-embedded (SDI) audio source• 1xHD/SD-SDI input• IP output via SFP port (Copper SFP included)• Unicast and multicast capable• Built-in watchdog timer with system reboot capability• Field-upgradable firmware• Configuration and shutdown control via HTTP server UI and programmable API• SCTE-104 to SCTE-35 conversion (SCTE-104 Ad markers in SDI source)• Remote management capability through SSH tunnel• SAP (Second Audio Program)

The QTM-HD-4 contains four independent transcoders in a single module. Each of these transcoders accepts one input in QPSK or 8PSK format, and the module delivers four outputs in QAM format in the 54-864 MHz range.

An integrated satellite selector switch allows operator to select any of the QPSK/8PSK inputs from up to 4 different satellites without the need for a separate external multiswitch. The 4 RF QAM output channels can be grouped in any 42 MHz-wide span, for example grouped consecutively in a 24 MHz-wide span, or grouped as two pairs of adjoining RF channels each 12 MHz wide, or any other possible combination of 4x 6 MHz-wide channels placed in a 42 MHz-wide span.

The QTM-HD-4-NPU functions the same as the QTM-HD-4, but with a “Null Packet” feature that allows adding/removing null packets to/from the input stream.

The QTM-HD-4/NPU may be monitored and controlled via GUI-based web pages from any computer either locally or via the internet.

There are a total of sixteen (16) stereo analog audio encoding engines in the unit. The table above illustrates one example of how this resource may be utilized. In this example all the audio programs are provided as stereo baseband analog inputs. In this example none are provided by digital audio present on the SD-SDI inputs.

Note 1: In the example above, a third discrete Audio Encoder input will not be available for video inputs 5 and 6. However, the Secondary Audio for 5 and 6 can be used to provide the Video Descriptor Service instead of being used for a second language input.

Note 2: Detects ad insertion messages generated per SCTE 35 from multiple Cue Tone Audio inputs (user selectable).

Note 3: Detects ad insertion messages in a preset sequence per SCTE 35 activated by a contact closure (user selectable).

Overview

The Studio LiveLAN™ system is specifically tailored to applications where there are a large number of live programs available (>100) and it is not necessary to deliver all of them simultaneously.

The unit features Just-in-Time Transcoding, which dynamically responds to program requests, and then transcodes and transmits to the viewer only the programs that have been requested to be viewed. By not transcoding all programs at the same time, the overall system cost is reduced for a more affordable solution.

The Studio LiveLAN™ system is an end-to-end solution that enables in-house distribution of live content over an existing LAN, including Wi-Fi.

Blonder Tongue has seamlessly integrated a Channel Selection Menu, Just-in-Time Transcoding, and HLS Streaming into a single 2RU server.

The viewer can cherry pick content by accessing the simple, web-based Channel Selection Menu via an App on Apple or Android devices, or through a web browser utilizing a unique local URL for PC and Mac computers, thus making it easy to deploy programming content to any device.

The warranty period for computer programs in machine-readable form included in a hardware product, which are essential for the functionality thereof as specifically stated in the published product specifications (“Core Product Software”) will be coincident with the warranty period of the applicable hardware product within which such Core Product Software is installed.

Software patches, bug fixes, updates or workarounds do not extend the original warranty period of any Core Product Software or Non-Core Software.

Notwithstanding anything herein to the contrary,

(i) Seller’s sole obligation for software that when properly installed and used does not substantially conform to the published specifications in effect when thesoftware is first shipped by Seller, is to use commercially reasonable efforts to correct any reproducible material non-conformity (as determined by Seller in its sole discretion) by providing the customer with: (a) telephone or e-mail access to report non-conformance so that Seller can verify reproducibility, (b) a software patch or bug fix, if available or a workaround to bypass the issue if available, and (c) where applicable, replacement or damaged or defective external media, such as CD-ROM disk, on which the software was originally delivered;

(iii) Seller retains all right, title and interest in and to and ownership of all software (including all Core Product Software and Non-Core Software) including any and allenhancements, modifications and updates to the same; and

(iv) in some cases, the warranty on certain proprietary sub-assembly modules manufactured by third-party vendors and contained in Seller’s products, third partysoftware installed in certain of Seller’s products, and on certain private–label products manufactured by third-parties for resale by Seller, will be of shorter duration or otherwise more limited than the standard Seller limited warranty. In such cases, Seller's warranty with respect to such third-party proprietary sub-assembly modules, third-party software and private-label products will be limited to the duration and other terms of such third-party vendor's warranty, if any. In addition, certain products, that are not manufactured by Seller, but are resold by Seller, may carry the original OEM warranty for such products, if any. The limited warranty set forth above does not apply to any product sold by Seller, which at the time of sale constituted a Refurbished/Closeout Product, the limited warranty for which is provided in the following paragraph.

Seller will at its sole option, either repair or replace (with a new or factory-reconditioned product, as Seller may determine) any product sold by Seller which at the time of sale constituted a refurbished or closeout item (“Refurbished/Closeout Product”), which is defective in materials or workmanship or fails to meet the applicable specifications that are in effect on the date of shipment of that product or fails to meet such other specifications as may have been expressly agreed upon in writing between the parties, for a period of ninety (90) days from the date of original purchase. Notwithstanding the foregoing, in some cases the warranty on certain proprietary sub-assembly modules manufactured by third-party vendors and contained in Seller products, third party software installed in certain of Seller’s products, and on certain private–label products manufactured by third-parties for resale by Seller will be of shorter duration or otherwise more limited than Seller limited warranty for Refurbished/Closeout Products. In addition, notwithstanding the foregoing, (i) certain Refurbished/Closeout Products that are not manufactured (but are resold) by Seller, may carry the original OEM warranty for such products, if any, which may be longer or shorter than Seller’s limited warranty for Refurbished/Closeout Products. All sales of Refurbished/Closeout Products are final.
