A quarterly newsletter exclusively for professionals of The Jacobson Group. 2017 Q1 Labor Study Results The latest iteration of the Semi-Annual U.S. Insurance Labor Market Study conducted by The Jacobson Group and Ward Group, a part of Aon Hewitt, a business unit of Aon plc (NYSE: AON), revealed that 65 percent of companies polled intend to increase staff in 2017. This projected hiring is driven by near-record-high numbers of personal and commercial lines property and casualty organizations. In addition, the Bureau of Labor Statistics has reported that the insurance industry unemployment rate is at 3.3 percent, which remains significantly lower than the national average. SUMMARY OF FINDINGS 70% of property and casualty and life/ health companies expect an increase in revenue growth, down nine points from the July 2016 survey. Expected revenue growth is at its lowest level since the January 2012 survey. 6% of companies expect a decrease in staffing during the next 12 months, 5 points higher than a year ago. Of companies that plan to add staff, 82% anticipate an increase in revenue, with 53% responding that increased revenue will be driven by a change in market share. 11% of organizations expect to increase their use of temporary employees this year, the highest anticipated increase in temporary staff usage since January 2014. Already, interim employment is up by more than 70,000 jobs since July 2016. If the industry follows through on its plans, we will see a 1.56% increase in industry employment during the next 12 months, creating new jobs. Actuarial, analytics and technology positions remain the most difficult to fill. Job openings remain moderately difficult to fill, and recruiting is reported to be slightly more challenging in most disciplines than it was a year ago. The Source Continued growth, a shallow talent pool and virtually non-existent industry unemployment are driving the industry’s competitive labor market. - Gregory P. HELPFUL TRAVEL TIPS

• Check in as early as possible online and get your boarding pass in advance. This allows you to skip lines at the ticket counter.

• Arrive at the airport at least 90 minutes before your domestic flight. This allows you ample time to check luggage, go through security and find the appropriate gate for your flight.

• If your baggage is lost or damaged, we recommend filing a claim immediately at the airport. Waiting to call the airline customer service may make it harder for the airline to successfully track down your bag.
