I would like to thank all of the individuals involved in making these classes possible. It takes a lot of volunteers for this to happen and fortunately we have many members willing to work to bring these classes to you, as well as register you in the class,

coordinate the class, locate places for the class and make sure the audio/visual equipment is ready for the presenters. But, we could not do any of it without the marvelous presenters. Thank you all.

Asyouregister,pleasebeverycarefultonotethevarioustimesand dates for classes. There are several courses given that go for threeweeksinsteadofsix.Thestartingdatesalsovaryforafewclasses.

In addition to classes,we also havemembersworking to bringyou trips of varying lengths and local Live Performances. You have receivedandwillcontinuetoreceiveinterestsheetsaboutthese.When you return your sheet, we get an idea about interest in those events and plan accordingly. Details on the event are then sent to members who have indicated an interest.

Kathleen Adams has a BA in Comprehensive Business Education andanMA in Education from BaldwinWallace University. She is currentlyan adjunct faculty instructor in Information Technology at CuyahogaCommunity College. She recently retired after 23 years as a Business/ComputerteacheratNorthRoyaltonCitySchools.Sheandherstudentsmentored seniors in the community with their technology needs.

Ken M. Ballasisasemi-retiredpastorandformerseminaryProfessorofBiblical Studies.Hegraduated fromConcordia SeminarywithBD,MDivand STM degrees. He has been Parish pastor at Ascension EvangelicalLutheran Church inMontreal, Assistant Professor of Biblical Greek andNewTestamentStudiesatConcordiaTheologicalSeminaryandPastorofSt.PaulEvangelicalLutheranChurch.

Lois Bluhm received an MA from the University of Notre Dame and a BA fromAlvernoCollege.ShehastaughthighschoolEnglishandartandhasalsotaughtEnglishatCuyahogaCommunityCollegeasanadjunctfacultymember.

Martin Calabrese, naturalist at Rocky River Nature Center, has a BS inWildlifeManagementfromTheOhioStateUniversityandamaster’sdegreeinecology-focusedbiologyfromJohnCarrollUniversity.Martybeganhiscareer as a biological sciences technician for the USDA, then worked as a seasonalnaturalistforClevelandMetroparks,WildlifeEducationSpecialistforLakeMetroparks,WildlifeSpecialist turnedScienceResourceCenterCoordinatorat theClevelandMuseumofNaturalHistory, andfinally inoutdooreducationatClevelandMetroparksin2014.

Warren Campbell-Gaston has a DMin from United Theological Seminary and an MDiv from Garrett Theological Seminary. He was a UnitedMethodistChurchministerfor40years,andanordainedelder.Histrainingand experience include being a published poet, a student at Omega and EsalenInstitutesandaChicagoCommunityOrganizer.Hehaspresentedmany ILR classes.

Janet Carnall has had a lifelong interest in geology, ancient history, nature and many other subjects. She earned a BS in geology and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University. She worked as a market researcher and buyer, beginningatSherwin-Williams,andretiringasdirectorofmarketinganddevelopmentatNorthCoastCommunityHomes.

Cully Coughlin earnedherBachelorofMusic Educationat theBaldwinWallaceUniversityConservatoryofMusic.Aretiredteacherofelementarymusic,shehasdirectedbothchildren’sandadultchoirsfor50years.Since2009shehasbeenthedirectorofTheFaithfulRingers,ahandbellchoir,atSt.Paul’sLutheranChurchinBerea,Ohio.

Melanie Deutsch,theformerFictionSpecialistfortheCuyahogaCountyPublic Library, has a BA in English and Spanish from Cleveland StateUniversity and an MA in Library Science from Case Western ReserveUniversity. With 27 years of experience in public libraries, she haspresentedworkshopsfornationalandstatelibraryorganizationsandhasfacilitatedalocalbookdiscussiongroupfor20years.ShehaspresentedcoursesfortheILRonnonfictionbooks,mysteriesandotherbookrelatedtopics.

Rebecca Dingle(FoodforLife–NutritionandCooking)RebeccaisacertifiedFoodforLifeNutritionandCookingInstructorwithPhysicians Committee for ResponsibleMedicine (PCRM.org) and has aCertificateinPlantBasedNutritionfromCornellUniversity.Asaneducatorshetakesthelatestscientificdataonnutritionandmakesitavailabletothe community. She teaches how, by making simple dietary adjustments, our major chronic illnesses may be prevented and reversed.

Rebecca Dingle(LivingYourWholeLife)Rebecca’s educational background is in both the exoteric and esotericfields. In the former she has a BA in Theatre as well as certificates ingerontology,traumahealingandplant-basednutrition. Inthe lattershehas advanced metaphysics degrees. Carl Fernstrum received his MM in Voice Performance from University of Akron and his BA in music from Wayne State University. Previously he attendedNewYorkUniversity’sTischSchooloftheArtsmusicaltheatrewriting program as a composer. For over 20 years Carl has served inchurch music ministry and is currently the contemporary service director/keyboardist for Strongsville United Methodist Church. He continuesteaching musical theatre history and composing sacred songs and musicals.

Jim Gibbs was awarded an MA in History from Miami University, and graduate credit in art history from Case Western Reserve University.He received his BA from Bowling Green State University and has taught arthistoryatCuyahogaCommunityCollege.His interest inarchaeologyled him to volunteer at an archaeological dig at Tell Gezer, a biblicalsite in Israel.HealsoservedontheBoardofDirectorsoftheClevelandArchaeological Society.

Mel Grunau earned a BA at Baldwin Wallace University and a Master of Architecture at Kent State University. He is a retired architect and hasbeen, formany years, an adult education instructor inwatercolor andoil paintingatPolarisCareerCenter,BayArts theBeckCenter and ILR.In addition he has provided painting demonstrations for numerous artassociations.

Father Andrew Harmon was awarded a Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary. He also has an MA in Russian History from University ofChicagoandaBAinHistoryfromNorthDakotaStateUniversity.HehasbeenpastorofSt.Matthew’sOrthodoxChurchinNorthRoyaltonover20years.

Doug ImhoffearnedaBA inAccountingandFinanceandanMBAfromBaldwinWallaceUniversity.Heisacertifiedpublicaccountant(CPA)andworkedasaninternalauditorinvariousmanagementpositionsforseveralcompaniesintheClevelandarea.Inadditionhehashadalifelonginterestin history, government and politics, especially regarding United Statespresidentialelections.

Dr. Joel S. Keller earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from the CaliforniaCollegeofPodiatricMedicine.HereceivedhisBScfromMcGillUniversity. He was in private practice for 24 years in Lorain and thenstartedasecondcareerinITconsultingandbusinessdevelopment.Nowhe is developing recycling projects. He has previously taught courses on “RockandRollHistory”fortheILR.

Mary Kolk hasproducedaDVDsetandauthoredabooktitled“HowWeBeatDiabetes.”ShehasbeenpresidentofLIVEMultimedia,apastvicepresidentofClevelandAdvertisingAssociation,andaformermemberofToastmastersandtheClevelandCoachFederation.Herextensiveresearchand study on diabetes and her hands-on success have brought her numerous speaking engagements, including those at Ohio State School of MedicineandHumanaHealthCenter.

Donna “Dahmia” Komidar attended classes through the PolynesianCultural Center in Laie,OahuHawaii formany years. Shewashonoredtobeinvitedtojoinafive-yearmaster’sclasswithKumuHulaMapuanade Silva, a very traditional teacherwho incorporates all aspects of theHawaiianculture,languageanddance.ThiswasthefirsttimeagroupnotlivingfulltimeinHawaiiwaspermittedtohavethishonor.

Dale Laux retired from theOhio Bureau of Criminal Identification as aforensicbiologistafternearly31years.He isnowanadjunctprofessorat Cleveland State University and BaldwinWallace University, teachingcourses in forensic science. He also served as president of the Midwestern AssociationofForensicScientistsandasafellowoftheAmericanAcademyofForensicSciences.HehasaBSdegreeinbiologyfromHeidelbergCollegeand an MS in Developmental Biology from The Ohio State University.

Dr. Richard Little’s first computer experience was during a collegesummerinternshipatWhiteSandsMissileRangein1959usingaUNIVAC2toanalyzethefirstZeusmissileflights.From1975to2013heservedinBaldwinWallace University’sMathematics Department, simultaneouslyteachingquantitativeandcomputerrelatedcoursesinBW’sMBAprogramandservingasaVisitingProfessorofgraduatemathattheTheOhioStateUniversity.

Betty McMahon received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Mount St. JosephCollege,andhasaMasterofEducationdegreeinCurriculumandInstruction from Ashland University. A native of Cincinnati, she taughthigh school history, government, and theology for over 25 years.

He is pastpresidentandhistorianof theClevelandCivilWarRoundtableandhasappearedinseveralofitsplays.HeisalifetimememberoftheLincolnForum. For 43 years he was Manager of Administrative Quality andDistributionfortheBostonWeatherheadDivisionofDanaCorporation.Inretirementheisawriter,speakerandactor.

Terry MeehanearnedaBBAinMarketingfromClevelandStateUniversityand an MA in Literature and Film from Kent State University. He teaches filmappreciationatLorainCountyCommunityCollegeandatseveraladulteducationprograms,includingtheClevelandFilmSociety.AtChautauquaInstitution, he has presented theMovies of AlfredHitchcock and EarlyWesternFilms.Healsocuratesandpresentsamonthlyfilmseries.

He is currently pursuing a Master of American History and Government at Ashland University. Andrew is executivedirector of the Friendsof JamesA.GarfieldNationalHistoricSite in Mentor. Dr. Pat Scanlan studied Asian history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received a PhD in History. He then lived and worked in EastAsiaforanumberofyears.Hepreviouslytaughtcollegehistorycoursesfor the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the University of Maryland, the SUNYsystem,theUniversityofAkronandCuyahogaCommunityCollege.

Dr. Von M. Smith is a professional speaker and seminar presenter who spent many years studying, observing, and living near the Amish. With aBAfromDefianceCollegeandanMAandPhDfromTheUniversityofToledo, he has taught college history, sociology, and psychology. He has been a college dean and administrator, and has published twenty-three times.

Stacie Wertheimer has 25 years of experience in the insurance industry, specializingintheseniormarketandgainingexpertiseinMedicarehealthplans. She is licensed by the state of Ohio as an independent agent and is certifiedbyAmerica’sHealthInsurancePlans(AHIP).Sheownsherownagency and represents many other insurance companies as well.
